We're tracking the latest news, rumors, injuries, and other developments in NFL training camps, with updates on Puka Nacua, Xavier Legette, and others.

Football never sleeps. While the 2024 NFL regular season is still weeks away, teams around the league are deep into training camp practices. Now that the pads are back on, clubs’  decision-makers can get a better idea of how their rosters look before Week 1.

With that in mind, we’re tracking every bit of news coming out of training camps. Here are the top stories from Sunday’s NFL practices.

    NFL Training Camp News Tracker

    Carolina Panthers

    • Panthers first-round rookie WR Xavier Legette suffered a lower-leg injury during Sunday’s practice, according to Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer. X-rays were negative, per NFL Network, but Legette will undergo an MRI.
    • Head coach Dave Canales said Legette’s leg injury is unrelated to the hamstring issue he battled during OTAs.
    • Panthers backup quarterback Andy Dalton has a quad injury, so Carolina signed QB Jake Luton on Sunday, as The Athletic’s Joe Person reports.
    • Luton, 28, has spent time with seven NFL teams since entering the league as a sixth-round pick in 2020. He had multiple stints on Carolina’s practice squad in 2023.

    Cleveland Browns

    • Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett would participate in his first summer training camp practice on Sunday, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
    • Garrett has primarily worked on the sidelines during camp but did full-speed pass-rushing drills after Friday’s practice.
    • Stefanski wouldn’t say whether WR Elijah Moore has a concussion but admitted he is working through the protocol, per Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram.

    Kansas City Chiefs

    • While WR Justin Watson returned to Chiefs practice on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Teicher reported that most of the club’s other injured players — including WR Kadarius Toney, LB Nick Bolton, and S Justin Reid — remained sidelined.
    • Former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden attended Kansas City’s practice on Sunday, per PJ Green of FOX 4. Gruden and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid overlapped on the Packers’ staff from 1992 to 1997.

    Los Angeles Chargers

    • Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa left Sunday’s practice with what appeared to be a left hand or wrist injury, reports Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Injuries have limited the 29-year-old to just 14 games over the past two years. Bosa accepted a pay cut to stay in Los Angeles this offseason.

    Los Angeles Rams

    • Rams wideout Puka Nacua left Sunday’s practice after roughly an hour, returning with a bag of ice around his knee, according to The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue. Nacua still wore his uniform and helmet but did not participate after returning to the field. Head coach Sean McVay said he was “not sure” what happened to Nacua. As of Monday morning, Nacua is now considered week to week, but the knee injury was “not serious.”

    New Orleans Saints

    New York Giants

    • Giants head coach Brian Daboll didn’t offer any updates on injured Giants right tackle Evan Neal, merely saying that the former first-round pick will remain sidelined through New York’s first preseason game, reports Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
    • Neal is still recovering after undergoing offseason ankle surgery. The Giants have seemingly moved on, signing Jermaine Eluemunor to play right tackle and Greg Van Roten to handle fright guard.

    Philadelphia Eagles

    • Offensive lineman Mekhi Becton (illness) was among a long list of Eagles who didn’t practice on Sunday. Tyler Steen, viewed as Philadelphia’s starting right guard at the start of camp, is sidelined by an ankle injury. Becton has seen right-guard reps in his absence, while Matt Hennessy, Brett Toth, and recent free agent addition Nick Gates are also in the mix.
    • Wideout Parris Campbell didn’t practice on Sunday due to a groin injury. Pro Football Network’s Anthony DiBona recently indicated that sixth-round Eagles WR Johnny Wilson is rising up the club’s depth chart. The Florida State product continued to see first-team work today, per Zach Berman of PHLY.

    Pittsburgh Steelers

    • Russell Wilson is on the board. The veteran quarterback completed a pass to WR Deuce Watts during the final rep of the Steelers’ Sunday team period, reports Brooke Pryor of ESPN. The play marked Wilson’s first pass attempt since injuring his calf near the beginning of training camp.

    Washington Commanders

    • No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels will start the Commanders’ first preseason game. Head coach Dan Quinn’s announcement hardly came as a surprise, as Daniels is widely expected to start over fellow QB Marcus Mariota when Washington plays Tampa Bay to open the regular season.
    • “I just love playing football, so I’m happy about it,” Daniels said Sunday, per the Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala. “I always knew I was going to play. I don’t know when I’m going to play, but I’m just happy to go out there.”
