The New England Patriots are one of the more struggling teams this season, losing six out of their first seven games under their new head coach Jerod Mayo.
Unfortunately, the team is not dropping any hints of a potential comeback this year, leaving the front office with no choice but to consider a number of trades. Among those players at risk of being traded are Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux.
NFL Insider Shares Patriots’ Potential Trade Plan
Breaking the news, reporter Dianna Russini wrote on Oct. 26:
“I’ve been told to keep an eye on the Patriots — who will listen to any proposal — with run-stuffing interior defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne among the possible targets. Two other former San Francisco players, defensive tackles DeForest Buckner (Colts) and D.J. Jones (Broncos), have been discussed internally by team decision-makers but I don’t get the sense Indy or Denver are open to moving either player.
“In the wake of Brandon Aiyuk’s season-ending knee injury, fellow receiver Deebo Samuel is likely off the table. However, cornerback Charvarius Ward, a second-team All-Pro in 2023 who has had a rough start this season, has an expiring contract and might draw interest.”
Dianna Russini’s latest article has the 49ers trade possibilities:

Despite all the rumors, Bourne has made his desire to stick with the Patriots extremely clear:
“This is where I want to be, I want to, because when it starts popping, it’s going to be popping, and so I want to be a part of it.
“My calling is to be here and help these guys here in this organization here. And I really, like, genuinely saying that. I really mean that. And so I’m excited where we’re at. It’s tough right now. It’s supposed to be tough.”
Kendrick Bourne wants to be a foundational piece for the Patriots.

Is Kendrick Bourne Playing This Week?
The Patriots will be gearing up to play against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
Bourne is currently on the injury report for Week 8 (full participation in practice, knee). However, the report doesn’t yet list his game status.
New England also added wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk (out/concussion) to its injury report for Sunday’s matchup.
This year, Bourne has only caught four out of five passes for 29 yards in the three games he’s played up until now.
