With the bonus of Turkey Day, the NFL teams hosting the games add some additional festivities to make coming out on the holiday even sweeter. Let’s look at who’s performing in the NFL Thanksgiving halftime shows.
Rapper Jack Harlow Heads to Detroit for a Halftime Performance
The Detroit Lions have been playing on Thanksgiving for the past 89 years.
While the team has disappointed for a long time, the Dan Campbell era has pushed the franchise back to the top of the NFC North. They host the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North battle at 12:30 p.m. ET, and rapper Jack Harlow will take the stage for the first of three NFL Thanksgiving halftime shows.
Harlow is a 25-year-old hip-hop artist from Louisville, Kentucky. Starting his music journey in 2015, Harlow has released three albums, six mixtapes, and two EPs. He was named “Top New Artist” at the Billboard Music Awards and Variety’s “Hitmaker of the Year” in 2021. With several platinum hits and a fantastic stage presence, “Jackman” should have the stadium buzzing.
Country Superstar Dolly Parton Adds Her Name to a Prolific List of Cowboys Thanksgiving Performers
The following Thanksgiving Day matchup sees the other NFL Turkey Day mainstay taking the field. The Dallas Cowboys have played on Thanksgiving since 1966 with a record of 32-22-1.
The Cowboys engage in an NFC East showdown against the Washington Commanders at 4:30 p.m. ET, the fifth time these two franchises have played on Thanksgiving since 2012.
A historical matchup deserves an all-time artist, and the Cowboys delivered by tabbing country music legend Dolly Parton to handle the halftime show. Parton has sold over 100 million records worldwide, with 25 singles reaching No. 1 on the Billboard country music charts. An EGOT winner, Parton is also a member of the Rock and Roll and Country Hall of Fame.
EDM Veteran Steve Aoki Pumps Up the Crowd in Seattle
Since 2006, the NFL has aired three Thanksgiving day games, with a nightcap added to the Lions and Cowboys’ traditional appearances. In 2023, the NFL selected the Seattle Seahawks to host the final Turkey Day game. Their NFC West matchup against the San Francisco 49ers starts at 8:20 p.m. ET.
The last of the NFL Thanksgiving halftime shows see EDM veteran Steve Aoki performing at Lumen Field. Aoki entered the electronic music scene in 1996 when he founded his label, Dim Mak Records. Since then, the DJ has been one of the highest-grossing EDM artists in North America, collaborating with countless superstars. Aoki is sure to give Seattle a top-notch show.
