NFL Standings Week 9: Where Do Teams Like the Dolphins, Cowboys, and Others Land?

What are the NFL standings after the Week 9 slate of games? Who leads each division, and have any teams locked things up at this point?

As the NFL season grinds on, every game matters and the standings become more and more meaningful. As you await to see where your favorite team falls in their hunt for a playoff spot, each win or loss could mean the difference between a division title or a better draft pick.

What Are the Current NFL Standings for Each Division?

    AFC East

The AFC East looks to be one of the more fun divisions in the NFL. Buffalo’s loss on Sunday temporarily allowed the Jets to move into second place in the division with hopes of having Aaron Rodgers under center at some point this season. That was shortlived, however, as New York fell to the Chargers on Monday Night Football.

    AFC North

The AFC North, from top to bottom, is one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. The Ravens currently sit at the top with six wins, but each of the other three are 5-3. While Baltimore looks to be the class of the division, the Bengals look like they’ve hit a stride, knocking off the Bills on Sunday to win their fourth consecutive game. There is still a lot of football to be played before this division can be decided.

    AFC South

While the AFC South looks like it is the Jaguars’ to lose, there are some young and intriguing teams who are not going away quietly as they hover around .500. Jacksonville currently has a commanding lead over the Texans, but C.J. Stroud and Co. have looked good at times. It’s too early to call the division done, but the Jags sit comfortably right now.

    AFC West

Despite losing their first game last week since Week 1, it is tough to sit here and think that this division belongs to anyone other than the Kansas City Chiefs.

You can never say never in the NFL, but this division looks about as sure of a thing as there is. The Chiefs held off the Dolphins in Frankfurt to sit as the top seed in the AFC entering their bye week. The Chargers climbed back to .500, however, with their Monday night win over the Jets.

    NFC East

The Eagles look to be in elite form, but the Cowboys are a talented football team capable of winning the division. The two teams squared off against one another in Week 9 — with Philly coming out on top and extending their lead to three games atop the division.

    NFC North

The Lions have looked like one of the better teams in the NFC this season. With Kirk Cousins now lost for the season, it will take a Herculean effort to compete with the Lions for the NFC North crown at this point.

    NFC South

The NFC South is a mixed bag right now, and it could be anyone’s division in 2023. Last season, the Buccaneers made it to the playoffs with a losing record. As we head out of Week 9, three teams hover around the .500 mark. This division promises to be an exciting finish, with it looking like a three-team race for the title even if the winner could end up below .500 once again.

    NFC West

What at one point looked like a division that the 49ers would run away with now looks to be much tighter. The Seahawks had overtaken the top spot after three straight losses by the 49ers. However, their Week 9 loss saw them drop below the 49ers due to a superior division record.
