Falcons Will Open Season Against The Steelers and Their Former Head Coach
According to Zach Klein, a Sports Director for WSB-TV in Atlanta, we’ll have at least one revenge game for Week 1, and it’s not your typical kind.
Klein shared on X that the Atlanta Falcons will host the Pittsburgh Steelers to start the season.

Dolphins Hosting Bills for Week 2 “Thursday Night Football”
Amazon on Tuesday announced that its first “Thursday Night Football” broadcast of the season will see Miami host Buffalo in a clash of AFC East rivals. The game will air at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The Bills have won 13 of their last 15 games against the Dolphins, including the four most recent matchups. The lone playoff matchup came on Jan. 15, 2023, when the Bills won an AFC Wild Card Round matchup.

Jets, 49ers Set for Week 1 “Monday Night Football”
George Kittle clearly had the inside scoop.
The NFL on Tuesday announced that San Francisco will host New York for the Week 1 edition of “Monday Night Football.” Barring another disaster, the game should mark the real Jets debut for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who missed all of last season after suffering a torn Achilles during the first drive of the campaign.
This will mark the first Jets-49ers matchup since 2020 when San Francisco earned a 31-13 road win. The two previews Jets-49ers games were in 2016 and 2012.

Chiefs, Bengals to Renew Rivalry in Week 2
CBS on Tuesday morning announced that Cincinnati will visit Kansas City on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 4:25 p.m. ET. The game likely will mark the first time that Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes have squared off since the 2022 season’s AFC Championship Game, which the Chiefs won, 23-20.
The Bengals and Chiefs played each other last December when Kansas City earned a 25-17 victory. Quarterback Jake Browning started in place of Burrow, who missed the season’s final seven games due to a wrist injury.

Netflix-NFL deal in jeopardy?
Multiple recent reports indicate the NFL and Netflix are working toward a deal that would see the streaming giant broadcast both Christmas Day games in 2024. And, according to Puck News’ John Ourand, the expectation is the deal eventually will be finalized. However, Amazon is making a late push to acquire the games.
“The league still doesn’t have a signed deal with Netflix for the two Christmas Day games that I reported on last week,” Ourand wrote in a story published Monday. “Complicating matters: After I wrote about the dynamic Netflix negotiations, Amazon tried to pry the games away by submitting its own bid to the league.”
NBC Acquires an Additional NFL Game for Week 16
On Monday May 13, NBC Sports announced that the network acquired an additional NFL game for this upcoming season. This game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 21, which presumably falls on Week 16.
With Sunday Night Football on NBC the following day, this will be the first time the network has consecutive games on Saturday and Sunday in Week 16 since 1997.
This Saturday afternoon broadcast will be available on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo.
Eagles To Host Monday Night Football in Week 2?
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 1 matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil has already been announced, but there is now some speculation that they’ll play at home on Monday Night Football for Week 2.
While their opponent is unknown at this time, we do know it will be one of these eight teams.
In addition to their three NFC East rivals, the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and Pittsburgh Steelers are the teams that will be traveling to Philadelphia at some point this season.

New Christmas Doubleheader Details
Netflix and the NFL are working on a deal that would see both Christmas Day games broadcast on the streaming giant, according to a recent report from WFAN’s Boomer Esiason. You can read more about that storyline in the next section, but let’s focus on new details that emerged Thursday evening.
John Ourand of Puck News reported that the NFL-Netflix negotiations aren’t finalized and could “fall apart” at any moment. He also reported the negotiations are to blame for the delayed schedule release from May 9 to May 15.
This is what held up last week’s schedule release, a source told me.
The expectation, according to the source, is that one division will play on Christmas Day and the Saturday before, as well, but the matchups will be reshuffled. https://t.co/FcFiOjC2R9
— Josh Weinfuss (@joshweinfuss) May 10, 2024
ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss added more details, reporting the “expectation” is the four teams that play on Christmas Day also will play the previous Saturday and all will be from the same division.
Here’s a hypothetical scenario:
- Saturday, Dec. 21: 49ers vs. Seahawks; Cardinals vs. Rams.
- Wednesday, Dec. 25: Seahawks vs. Cardinals; Rams vs. 49ers.
Again, none of this is official. But all signs point toward one division occupying the Christmas doubleheader, with both games streaming on Netflix.
NFL On Netflix?
First Tom Brady, now Christmas games? Recent reports suggest that the streaming giant might be looking to acquire more than just a live roast of one of the league’s most popular players.
Esiason raised the topic during his daily weekday morning radio show and said he would not be surprised if Netflix is ultimately involved in streaming this year’s Christmas games.
“I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am,” Esiason said. “Do not be surprised if the NFL and Netflix get in bed for a nice little Christmas Day football games. I would not be surprised.”
Front Office Sports (FOS) initially reported back in April that the league was set to auction off TV rights for its two 2024 Christmas Day games with bidding open to all of its media partners, including CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN-ABC, and Amazon Prime Video. At that point, FOS reported that games were “more likely to appear on linear TV networks than streaming platforms,” per sources with direct knowledge of the league’s strategy.
If Esiason is to be believed, Netflix may now have inserted itself into the fray as well and could end up being the broadcast partner for the league’s 2024 Christmas Day games.
How P!NK Tour Could Impact Week
Recording artist P!NK will perform at MetLife Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 3, per her official tour website.
That eliminated the possibility of either the New York Jets or New York Giants hosting the Week 5 edition of “Thursday Night Football.” Either team still could host a game on Sunday or Monday, however.
Browns Won’t Play Jaguars in London
The Browns are one of Jacksonville’s home opponents next season, but you apparently can rule them out as a “visitor” for the Jaguars’ host game in London. On Tuesday, the Browns announced fan travel experiences for multiple cities in 2024, including Jacksonville. That seemingly would rule out a trip to London.

Ravens Hosting Week 1 Sunday Night Football?
The Ravens and Orioles rarely, if ever, hold games in Baltimore on the same day. And Major League Baseball/the Orioles historically have rejected NFL requests to change schedules. Most notably, the Ravens were forced to open on the road in 2013 despite being the defending Super Bowl champions.
KEEP READING: 2024 NFL Schedule Predictions
However, the Orioles recently informed fans that their home game for Sunday, Sept. 8, was moved from a 1:35 p.m. ET start to 12:05. Many saw the announcement as an indication the Ravens could play at home for the Week 1 edition of Sunday Night Football.
That said, MLB is nearing a broadcast deal with Roku, per Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. As part of the agreement, multiple games Sunday games were moved to start times of 11:30 a.m. or shortly after noon. It’s unclear whether the Orioles’ announcement is related to Marchand’s reporting, but the time change might have nothing to do with the Ravens.
Possible opponents for Week 1 SNF if the Ravens were to host:

Broncos
Browns
Commanders

Taylor Swift’s Potential Impact on the 2024 NFL Schedule
Though not confirmed, there’s a prevailing assumption the NFL built the schedule with Taylor Swift’s tour in mind. If Swift is performing at an NFL venue on or near a gameday, the belief is the venue’s team will be scheduled either on the road or on a date that allows enough time for stadium crews to prepare for either event.
Here are some notes after cross-referencing dates on Swift’s tour calendar:
- Swift will perform in Miami from Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20.
This could force the Dolphins’ Week 7 game to be played on Thursday night, Monday night, or on the road. - Swift will perform in New Orleans from Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27.
This could force the Saints’ Week 8 game to be played on Thursday night, Monday night, or on the road. - Swift will perform in Indianapolis from Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3.
This could force the Colts’ Week 9 game to be played on Thursday night, Monday night, or on the road.
The most probable scenario is the Dolphins, Saints, and Colts all go on the road those respective weeks, as one day likely isn’t enough time to turn over a stadium for events of these magnitudes.
