Under HC Nick Sirianni, the 2023 Philadelphia Eagles opened the season 10-1 and looked like a team on its way to representing the NFC in this past year’s Super Bowl.
Despite their disastrous 1-6 finish — as well as a first-round exit at the hands of Baker Mayfield’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Philadelphia closed in on the top five, according to the NFLPA’s annual player survey on working conditions for the NFL’s 32 franchises.
Philadelphia Eagles Receive Fourth-Best Grade in NFL Report Card
As stated by the NFLPA Wednesday, the Eagles “[finished] the year ranked fourth overall in the team survey report. Survey respondents consistently grade the staff highly. The strength coaches, training staff, and head coach Nick Sirianni all receive extremely high grades from the players.”
The overview of the report card continued by mentioning the players “have a lot of faith in club owner Jeffrey Lurie’s willingness to continually upgrade the facilities.”
With some positives, there will most likely be a negative or two, and in the Eagles’ case, that is how the team sets up when it is time to travel for a road game.
“Players feel crammed in the back of the plane while the staff sits in first class,” the report card said.
Players of the team would also like to see an upgraded locker room, as some say it feels “outdated.”
Here is a dissection of the Eagles’ grades and rankings in each of the 11 specific categories assessed and voted upon by the players themselves:
- Treatment of Families: C (16th)
- Food/Cafeteria: A (second)
- Nutritionist/Dietician: B (13th)
- Locker Room: B- (16th)
- Training Room: B+ (ninth)
- Training Staff: A- (fourth)
- Weight Room: A- (ninth)
- Strength Coaches: A- (sixth)
- Team Travel: C (19th)
- Head Coach: A (sixth)
- Ownership: A (seventh)
These marks will help the Eagles in marketing themselves as a premier destination for free agent players to join beginning March 13.
With positive grades in the head coach, training staff, strength coaches, and ownership categories, the Eagles represent themselves as a class-act organization.
Among some findings in the report card:
- The Eagles are one of 11 teams that do not offer free, onsite daycare to player’s families. They do provide a room for childcare, but “each player must apply the childcare themselves.”
- The Eagles rank No. 1 overall in the freshness of food.
- The players rate their head trainer the highest of any NFL team.
- The players feel that the training staff is a main reason for their success.
- The Eagles do not require that any players have roommates before games.
