Every week, we see at least one referee and his crew with a week off, but as the bye weeks start, that number will grow to three.
However, that still means we have 14 other crews working this week, so let’s look at the Week 6 NFL ref assignments.
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed.

The Lions and Buccaneers will have Clay Martin’s crew officiate their game, which could feature a small number of flags. Martin’s crew averages only nine accepted penalties per game this season. Detroit has had five or fewer accepted penalties three times, and Tampa Bay had 11 penalties last week after only having 14 combined in the first three games.
The crew assignments could be bad news for the Colts on their visit to Jacksonville. Alex Kemp’s crew has averaged 16 accepted penalties per game, with 10 of those against the road team. In the first meeting with Clay Martin’s crew, the teams each had four penalties accepted against them.
The Jaguars have had less than five accepted penalties in a game called against them in the first five games. This is the second-lowest in the league behind the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts have had four games with at least six accepted penalties against them, including eight each in the last two weeks.
Land Clark’s crew will officiate the Cowboys and Chargers on Monday Night Football. This will be a contrast between a crew that throws a lot of flags and two teams that have generally had a low number of penalties accepted against them. Clark’s crew has called at least 14 penalties in four of five games, while Dallas and Los Angeles have had only one game each with more than six calls against them.
Each season, officials are assigned to referees from the NFL’s officiating roster. You can see the full crews for the 2023 season in our handy guide.
