Is there a new ref for the 2022 season?
There is one new ref for the 2022 season. That is Tra Blake, who was an umpire on Carl Cheffers’ team last year. Blake replaces Tony Corrente, who has retired after 27 years on the roster. Blake’s crew has a wide mix of members on it, including Tony Michalek as umpire, and Tom Hill as field judge, both of whom have more than 20 years of experience. Three of his crew worked with Corrente last year.
Intriguingly, the crew Blake was on in 2022, Cheffers’, has the dubious honor of having thrown the most flags in the NFL (237). Intriguingly, Corrente’s crew threw the third-fewest flags (169). Therefore, it will be interesting to see how this new crew fairs.
