2019 Thanksgiving Matchups: What quarterbacks might break records on Turkey Day?

With three matchups on Thursday, the NFL continues its tradition of playing football games on Thanksgiving Day. Could we see a remarkable QB performance as we have in years past?

In one of the most lopsided games to ever be played on the holiday, Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts cruised to a 41-9 victory. All six touchdowns for the Colts’ offense were Manning passes.

That 2004 season was significant in more ways than one for Manning. Like Griese, Manning produced a career-best passer rating that same year (2004). He’d also lead the entire league in touchdown passes on his way to breaking the single-season record (at that time) held by Dan Marino.

While it’s unlikely, we’ll see a performance like that this Thanksgiving, there is one quarterback more than capable. It wouldn’t be his first time throwing for six scores, either.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the obvious choice here given the Falcons and Saints game has the best opportunity to become Thanksgiving’s shootout. With Michael Thomas seemingly unstoppable, Brees will have plenty of opportunities to drive the ball down the field.

    Cleaning up

Luckily for us, football has become more and more prevalent this time of year. When people think of Thanksgiving Day, football comes to mind just as swiftly as stuffing and pumpkin pie.

So while you’re eating midday, tune into the Chicago Bears at the Detroit Lions. And don’t forget to squeeze in that catnap. Might we see Chase Daniel come into relief for Mitchell Trubisky? That is an ongoing storyline to watch.

Game two is sure to offer more excitement as the Buffalo Bills visit the Dallas Cowboys. Can the Cowboys get back on track and back to their winning ways? Jason Garrett is on the hot seat and Jerry Jones is getting impatient.

However, make sure you leave room for dessert. The NFL may have saved the very best for last as the New Orleans Saints head to Atlanta to face the Falcons. That game should most definitely hit the spot.

And best of all, enjoy your family and friends. We Americans are truly blessed and have many reasons to be thankful. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
