With the NFL‘s Divisional Round weekend action ending on Sunday night, there has been some movement in our latest QB power rankings ahead of the conference championships.
NFL QB Power Rankings | Conference Championship
While we don’t want to be rash in our decisions about how we view these quarterbacks in the macro, a “power ranking” is about the micro. They’re more about the here and now.
While perceived talent remains important, performance so far this season combined with Divisional Round action will be weighed heavier.
4) Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
On pure QB rating alone, Brock Purdy has had over a dozen better statistical performances than the one he had against the Green Bay Packers this week. Taking nothing away from the young 49ers QB — who has done everything that has been asked of him since taking over the role last season — this just wasn’t one of the better performances we’ve seen from him.
Purdy finished the day with a completion percentage of just 59% and a rating of 86.7, which ranks in the bottom third of his performances this year. Despite that, San Francisco will once again move onto the NFC Championship Game for the third year in a row and will do so at home against a red-hot Detroit Lions team.
3) Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
When viewing Jared Goff’s career it probably doesn’t get the respect it rightfully deserves.
Goff has been under center for successful NFL teams and has shown to have sustained playoff success for two separate organizations. Some view the veteran QB as a game manager, but if that is indeed what he is, he’s on the high end of that list.

Goff finished the afternoon with 287 passing yards and two touchdowns on a 69.8 completion percentage. What seemed like something that was never going to happen again for a starved fan base changed in the blink of an eye as Goff and Co. have the Lions in the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.
2) Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Playoff time is simply Patrick Mahomes’ time to shine. Despite the ups and downs this season has brought him and his offensive weapons, death, taxes, and the Chiefs with Mahomes at QB in the Conference Championship is about all you can guarantee in life at this point.
In what was another classic battle between the Chiefs and Bills, Mahomes once again came out on top against Josh Allen and Co. and did so in impressive fashion.
Mahomes finished with an excellent QB rating of 131.6 and completed 73.9% of his passes with two touchdowns. The Chiefs will have their hands full next week against the Ravens, but who can count Mahomes out during this time of year?
1) Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
The front-runner for the NFL MVP award, Lamar Jackson once again did not disappoint on Sunday. Jackson finished the afternoon with four total touchdowns (two through the air, two on the ground).
Right now, no one in the league is playing better football than Jackson is. As a result, the Ravens look like a true juggernaut heading into their Conference Championship matchup.
Baltimore has a chance to go to the Super Bowl for the first time under Jackson. If they do, assumedly they will be the favorites against either NFC opponent.
The job is not done for Jackson and the boys. But as the next round of playoffs is set to kick off this weekend, there is no QB in the league who inspires more confidence right now than the man under center in Baltimore who can do it all.
