Week 4 was brutal in betting circles and not many NFL picks profited for the masses. There was a relative decent down to earth from an NFL props standpoint for this series, but the first quarter of the NFL season was not in the red, thankfully.
With a props record of 13-13 heading into this past Thursday’s epic with the Rams and Seahawks, Against the Spread climbed above the .500 mark, thanks to Russell Wilson rushing for well over the set 19.5, as he scampered for 32 in the victory.
With a profitable record and a few double-downed unit wins, Against The Spread looks to parlay that moderate success into higher-volume returns.
Speaking of high-volume, we start with the Against The Spread Player Prop Play-of the-Week. (2-1 so far)
[sv slug=”betupdate”]The Cardinals, David Johnson and his stats fly North…east
When looking at this battle of winless teams, there could be beauty in what looks to be a terrifyingly ugly matchup. David Johnson has had a slow start out of the gates overall in fantasy and the main culprit are those limited rushing yards.
He has scored in three of the first four games, but at a measly 11.75 carries per game on average, Johnson clearly needs his number called more. The Air-Raid offense could limit those carries, and his receiving output has been very solid with 21 catches and 182 yards in the air.
Johnson needs a game to get the ground-gears back rotating on all cylinders, and enter the hapless Bengals rush defense. Cincinnati is giving up a whopping 143 rushing yards per game which is 6th worst in the league. They are also one of five teams that have given up a league-high five runs over 20+ yards.
With an NFL picks and props line set at 57.5 rushing yards, watch for Johnson to take advantage of this anemic rush defense. Air-Raid or not, a 4th quarter lead should all but clinch this low yardage mark for a once-prominent running back, looking for his bust-out game of 2019.
OVER 57.5 rushing yards (-108): David Johnson (2 units)
