NFL Media Personality Says Dak Prescott Isn’t the Problem in Dallas – ‘The Issue Is Jerry Jones and the Culture’

Many will blame Dak Prescott for the Cowboys' playoff issues, but one NFL personality doesn't think the QB is the problem in Dallas.

There is plenty of blame to go around in Dallas, with much of the anger of the fan base being pointed at quarterback Dak Prescott. While Prescott was far from perfect in the team’s embarrassing blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card round, he shouldn’t receive the majority of the blame for the Cowboys‘ early playoff exit.

One NFL personality thinks the issues start at the very top, and while Prescott will be the one who gets discussed the most amongst the fan base and media outlets, this analyst doesn’t think he’s the problem and instead points to the culture in Dallas.

Dak Prescott Not the Problem in Dallas?

According to Robert Griffin III on the latest episode of ESPN’s Get Up, he sees the problems in Dallas being much more about Jerry Jones and the culture he built, rather than Prescott and his performance.

“I think Dak has proven he can be the quarterback for the Cowboys to go win a Super Bowl. I think he played at an MVP level for [the] majority of the year last year, so Dak Prescott isn’t necessarily the issue. The issue is Jerry Jones and the culture he has created there for the Dallas Cowboys,” Griffin started.

“If you really think about this, that star on the helmet has become more notorious for getting guys into big broadcast positions post-playing career than it has for them to win a Super Bowl on the field in the last 25-30 years.

“They gotta figure out a way to allow a coach to come in there — I know Mike McCarthy is going to be the coach this year, but I think a coach that can challenge Jerry Jones and make him uncomfortable is the only way the Cowboys are going to get over that hump.

“Right now, they’re too cuddly like Teddy Bears, especially when it comes to the line of scrimmage.”

What Griffin is stating here is not new or profound. Many around the NFL have long thought the Cowboys’ biggest issue resided with Jones and his leadership style. The problem is that there is very little you can do when the main issue is the owner of the franchise making all the decisions.

According to Griffin, it will take a coach who can come in and shake things up from the top down. If they can do so, the Cowboys may once again be able to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. However, for now, it’s much easier said than done.
