NFL Media Personality Predicts Surprise Landing Spot for Rams QB Matthew Stafford This Offseason

Rams QB Matthew Stafford's name has been floated in trade rumors, and one NFL media personality listed a surprise landing spot for him.

Matthew Stafford’s future in the NFL remains uncertain. At 37, the former No. 1 overall pick has been linked to quarterback-needy teams this offseason and could find himself headed for a breakup with the Los Angeles Rams.

While numerous teams have been linked to the Rams as a trade partner, Colin Cowherd revealed what team he believes the star quarterback could be headed to on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

Colin Cowherd Predicts Matthew Stafford to the Giants

“This sounds crazy; the Matthew Stafford to the Giants thing is real, I’m told,” Cowherd said. “I am told they like Matt Stafford, but he’s old. Let’s be honest: you look at the playoffs, there were two immobile quarterbacks, Stafford and [Jared] Goff. It is a mobile quarterback league.”

Stafford finished the 2024 season with 3,762 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 16 games. The Rams won 10 games with Stafford under center, enough to win the NFC West and defeat the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Stafford would fill a glaring need for the Giants, who released Daniel Jones during the season.

The Giants have the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and have been oft-linked to Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, the top quarterbacks. However, the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns have also been linked to quarterbacks, and they both pick before the Giants.

The Giants have also been connected to Cooper Kupp, who announced that the team told him they would seek a trade for him. Giants star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers spoke about Stafford and Kupp with Matthew Berry at Radio Row.

“I like the way he throws the football,” Nabers said of Stafford.

“I had to watch a lot of Cooper Kupp film, especially when I was in the slot at LSU … his option route is one of the best I’ve seen,” Nabers said. “If I can learn some from Cooper Kupp, I can you know, exceed my game.”

Injuries limited Kupp to 12 games in 2024, but despite missing time, the veteran receiver accumulated 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns.

Stafford and Kupp helped deliver a championship to the Rams. If they were to come together to the Giants to join forces with Nabers, New York would presumably expect big things for the trio.

Cowherd Also Suggests Rams Replace Stafford With Aaron Rodgers

In addition to potentially trading Stafford, Cowherd suggested the Rams would replace him with another Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

“What the Rams will be in the market for if Matt Stafford moves is a one-to-two-year rental at quarterback,” Cowherd said. “Aaron Rodgers.”

The Jets announced they will be moving on from Rodgers, making him an unrestricted free agent. The four-time NFL MVP is 41 years old, and while he may not have much longer in his NFL career, he could serve as a bridge option for a team before handing the keys over to a young starter.

After tearing his Achilles in 2023, Rodgers played all 17 games in 2024, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Rodgers also added a rushing touchdown, as the Jets finished the season with a record of 5-12.

Only time will tell where these two potential Hall of Fame quarterbacks end up. These two will be names to monitor as the quarterback carousel continues throughout the offseason.
