NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski Thinks Chiefs Are ‘Definitely’ Being Favored by Refs Amid Officiating Controversy

Many NFL fans have accused the Kansas City Chiefs of receiving preferential treatment throughout the years. The AFC Championship Game vs. the Buffalo Bills, marred by some controversial calls, didn’t change the opinion of most, including Rob Gronkowski.

Gronk seems to agree with NFL fans that the Chiefs are getting special treatment from the refs.

Rob Gronkowski Thinks the Chiefs Getting ‘More Calls Over Anyone Else’

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Gronk all but confirmed something fishy was going on with the Chiefs and the refs.

“It’s at another level for the Kansas City Chiefs right now,” Gronkowski claimed while speaking to Us Weekly via his partnership with Avocados From Mexico.

“I think definitely they’re more lenient to giving them more calls over anyone else.”

Fans point to not only what happened Sunday (Jan. 26) — a fourth-down call, which looked like a first down for the Bills, went against them. But they also pointed to the week prior against the Houston Texans, when the Chiefs had a couple of calls go their way, including a roughing the passer penalty.

Later in the same game, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes tried to flop when he was hit out of bounds but didn’t get that called. Mahomes later admitted he was wrong for doing that.

“When I was on the Patriots, I never got any calls,” Gronkowski said. “I was actually getting held. I was basically getting chopped right off the line of scrimmage and just hit the whole entire route. I was never getting calls my way. I didn’t get any.”

Gronk’s claims may have some NFL fans begging to differ, especially when it came to Tom Brady — who Gronk admitted “got a couple calls his way when I was on the team.”

“Tom used to get lit up back in the day,” Gronkowski explained. “If you’ve seen some of those clips on Instagram, it’s like, ‘Whoa.’ Your jaw is dropping about how much he used to get lit up. I’m glad the game has changed a little bit and those hits have lessened up on quarterbacks.”

Gronk’s statement is bound to raise some eyebrows, especially next week as both the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles prepare for Super Bowl 59. You have to wonder if the refs are going to be a little bit more cautious when comes to making calls in the game next week with the world watching.
