Shedeur Sanders is projected to be either the first or second quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, in recent weeks, rumors have surfaced about Sanders potentially slipping in the draft due to alleged concerns about his behavior and teams prioritizing veteran quarterbacks.
One NFL insider confirmed the speculation that Sanders’ draft stock has dropped and warned that he could even fall out of Round 1.

NFL Insider Says Shedeur Sanders ‘Feels a Bit More Like Bo Nix’
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer appeared on the latest episode of “The Rich Eisen Show” and said he hadn’t spoken to many people who view Sanders as a first-round pick. Breer compared Sanders’ situation to that of Bo Nix, who was once projected as the No. 1 overall prospect before slipping to 12th overall.
“I think with Shedeur, it feels a little bit more like Bo Nix to me. You know, I haven’t been able to find very many people, Rich, that think he’s a first-rounder,” Breer said.
“I think that’s the boat that Shedeur is in right now, where there are going to be a lot of teams that look at him as a second- or third-round pick based on his physical skill set. And for him, it’s going to be about finding the place that looks at him differently and sees him differently and says, ‘This guy is a fit for us in particular.’”
While Breer noted that Sanders’ ceiling appears lower than Cam Ward and other quarterbacks, reports have suggested that “at least one team took issue with his attitude and mannerisms during interviews at the NFL Combine, potentially impacting his draft stock.”
The character concerns surfaced after it was reported that an unnamed “QB coach who reportedly represents a team selecting inside the top seven of the 2025 NFL Draft referred to Sanders as ‘brash’ and ‘arrogant.’”
Despite the speculation, many still rank Sanders as one of the top quarterback prospects and expect him to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In 2024, he led the Big 12 in nearly every passing category, completing 353 of 477 passes (74%) for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, averaging 318 yards per game. His 71.8% career completion percentage is an FBS record.
PFSN’s Latest Mock Draft Predicts Sanders Picked No. 3 Overall
In PFSN’s latest seven-round mock draft by Jacob Infante, Sanders is projected to be selected No. 3 overall by the New York Giants, who are currently waiting on Aaron Rodgers’ decision.
“The New York Giants might need to trade up from No. 3 if they want a quarterback in the first round. In this scenario, they stay put and still get their future starter.”
The Giants haven’t found much success recently — making just two playoff appearances since their Super Bowl win in February 2012 — and have made multiple questionable decisions over the years. Arguably none have been more scrutinized than drafting Saquon Barkley No. 2 overall in 2018 instead of selecting a franchise quarterback.
A move like this could finally put New York back on the right track.
“The Giants have some pieces in place for him to work with, but when you get a shot at a potential franchise quarterback, you don’t pass it up,” Infante said.
