New York NFL reporter Art Stapleton believes that Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ best traits are “unappreciated and overlooked” ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Stapleton released the message on X in a post discussing the potential fit of Sanders with the New York Giants.
Sanders is widely expected to be one of the first players selected in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. At this time, it appears as though either Sanders or Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward will be the No. 1 quarterback off the board this April. However, it seems as though Stapleton believes that Sanders’ best traits are still not getting the praise and attention they deserve.

What Did Art Stapleton Say About Shedeur Sanders?
Stapleton made clear that he thought that the best part of Shedeur’s game has not been getting enough attention.
I still don’t know if Shedeur Sanders will be a Giant and will be doing a lot more on the potential match in the coming weeks, but I truly believe this:
The best part of Shedeur’s game is unappreciated and overlooked … until you have a QB who does not have those skills.

Sanders’ 2025 NFL Draft Projection
In Pro Football Network’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft completed by Owain Jones, Sanders was the No. 2 QB off the board behind Ward but was still picked in the top three. In that mock draft, Sanders was selected No. 3 overall by the Giants.
As Jones notes, “The Giants have seemingly developed a strong rapport with Shedeur Sanders after interviewing and spending time with him at the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. The New York market appears to be a perfect fit for the Sanders brand, and the Giants are in desperate need of stability at the quarterback position.
With jobs on the line, this pick must be a quarterback if one of Sanders or Ward is on the board. Sanders has the skill set to effectively run an NFL offense in his rookie season. His game-manager play style contributes to impressive accuracy, the ability to make full-field reads, solid decision-making, and above-average athleticism.”
While it remains to be seen who drafts him or whether he is the first quarterback selected, it is evident that Stapleton believes that Sanders’ best traits are not being discussed enough ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
