NFL Insider Sees Jaguars Deploying Travis Hunter on Defense With ‘Some WR Packages’

NFL Insider Benjamin Allbright shared his draft predictions on Thursday and how he thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars should deploy Travis Hunter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the fifth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and as a result, the opportunity to draft one of this year’s best prospects. Since the Jaguars do not need to worry about drafting a QB because they already have Trevor Lawrence, they could get one of the best skill-position players in the draft.

One NFL insider thinks they could even end up with someone who many people think is the best player in the draft, Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB Travis Hunter.

NFL Insider Makes His Predictions for the First Five Picks in the 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is only two months away, and as a result, speculation for how the top of the first round will shake out is at an all-time high. On Thursday, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright made his early predictions for the top five picks in this year’s draft.

“Here’s a waaay too early ‘If I had to guess today’ 1. Titans – Try to trade out. They’re not a quarterback away. They like Cam Ward, but they love Abdul Carter. 2. Browns – Also trying to trade out. A lot of what happens here hinges on free agency and the QB situation. I think they find a taker here to come up and get Cam Ward. 3. Giants – Shedeur Sanders 4. Patriots – Mason Graham 5. Jaguars – Travis Hunter.”

Hunter is viewed by many as the best player in the 2025 NFL Draft, but there is a lot of debate about how he should be deployed. Hunter played both cornerback and wide receiver for the Buffaloes and won the Heisman Trophy for his elite play on both sides of the ball. However, many draft experts do not think he can effectively play both positions at the same time in the NFL.

The general consensus seems to be that Hunter will primarily play CB in the NFL but will be put in the game in a few packages as a wide receiver. Allbright agrees with that plan. When a fan asked him what he thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars should do with Travis Hunter, he shared his thoughts.

“He’ll be a corner with some WR packages.”

That decision would make sense for the Jaguars. They desperately need help on defense, and adding someone like Hunter would help tremendously. However, it also makes sense for Lawrence to see time in some WR packages so Lawrence can capitalize on the rookie’s impressive skill set.
