The Aaron Rodgers saga continues to meander along. But with a far-from-ideal stint with the New York Jets already in the books, the stage is set for a new and unexpected direction to materialize. For weeks, rumors of a potential divorce between QB and franchise have felt imminent.
But in recent weeks, thanks to an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” for Rodgers, one location seems like a better bet than the rest. Now, an NFL insider is also adding some fuel to that particular fire.
Aaron Rodgers’ Next Team Might Be Materializing in Front of Our Eyes
During the season, reports of Woody Johnson debating about putting Rodgers on the bench made the light of day. While the situation hasn’t come to pass, the firing of the team’s HC and GM has kept the entire organization and everyone associated with it on edge.
But where Rodgers is concerned, he already has his sights on one particular team. During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers was incessant on his praise for, as he likes to call it, “the great state of Tennessee.”
The entire time, the four-time MVP had a distinct smirk on his face, his intentions clear as day. “Great people, no state income tax. Yeah, a lot of great country music out there. Barbecue, good barbecue there. Memphis.”
According to Jeremy Fowler, the appearance and mention weren’t without reason. Speaking on the “This Is Football” podcast with Kevin Clark, he went into detail about QBs who might be on new teams next season, and Rodgers’ name was among the first to come up.

“He gave a shoutout to the state of Tennessee the other day on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.'” When the conversation went to Rodgers potentially owning property in the area, Fowler quipped, “I think they have property where there is no state income tax. If Rodgers has that in Tennessee, then that would not shock me.”

The only question for Fowler is if the stigma and circus around Rodgers would work with the Titans and their ownership group. Their impatience is legendary, which already cost a budding star coach like Mike Vrabel his job. So, pivoting from building a culture under new head coach Brian Callahan to inviting Aaron Rodgers would be a dramatic U-turn.
“Does Rodgers make sense with all the baggage there to bring into a team that, you know, you’re trying to sort of develop a culture?”
Currently, Will Levis and Mason Rudolph define the Tennessee Titans quarterback unit. If they can get high enough in the NFL Draft, they may look for a franchise quarterback. Otherwise, looking into Rodgers might not completely be out of the realm of possibility.
He has the pedigree of a champion and an MVP, and his stats, 3,511 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, might be low for him. But for the Titans, the 90.8 passer rating would be a huge upgrade over their current situation.
