Davante Adams did not play in Week 6 due to a hamstring injury. He has now missed three straight games and has not played since being rumored to be getting traded by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Teams like the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in Adams, but so far, an agreement has not been reached. NFL insider Adam Schefter recently gave details on why the Raiders have not traded the star receiver yet.
Adam Schefter Gives Details on Davante Adams’ Situation
During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter mentioned that Raiders owner Mark Davis is not willing to let Adams go without receiving fair compensation. He also mentioned that Davis does not want to pay the receiver while he plays for another team.
“It starts with Mark Davis. Because it’s in his mind that he wants that compensation back. He has been the one who has been unwilling to bend or be flexible off that. He doesn’t want to pay any of the money left on Davante’s deal,” said Schefter.
“He does believe the Raiders should be getting back a minimum of a second-round draft pick. You have a situation where the owner is very adamant on certain issues here. Unless he changes his stance, nothing is going to happen with any of these other people.”

It’s well-known that the Raiders are seeking a second-round pick and an additional pick in return for Adams. However, people around the league do not believe that the 31-year-old wide receiver will fetch a second-round pick.
This is largely because of Adams’ contract. He has two years left on his deal, but both of them have a non-guaranteed amount of money ($36.25 million) in them, and he could potentially become a free agent after this season.
Unless Adams gets traded to a preferred destination, the receiver is unlikely to restructure his contract and will be a free agent after the season. Paying a second-round pick for a rental is not a wise idea for any team, which is why the Raiders have to lower their expectations of receiving such type of compensation.
Most Likely Landing Spot for Adams
Adams listed the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints as his preferred trade destinations. Despite being advised against it, the general belief is that the six-time Pro Bowler will end up reuniting with Aaron Rodgers in New York.
The Jets need another star receiver to help Garrett Wilson, and due to Rodgers’ relationship with Adams, the franchise will try their best to lure him from Las Vegas.
The Jets have already fired Robert Saleh, and if they lose tonight to the Buffalo Bills, they will likely try to get Adams on their team as soon as possible. The Raiders are 2-4 this season and are unlikely to make the playoffs, so the chances of the standout staying on the team are quite low.
In the three games that he has played this year, Adams has 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown on 27 targets.
