NFL Insider Gives Jets’ Davante Adams Bad News on $140,000,000 Contract

    Published on

According to one NFL insider, Davante Adams' $140 million contract could get tweaked by the New York Jets after the team's disastrous season.

Earlier this season superstar wide receiver Davante Adams made a blockbuster move to the New York Jets. The hopes of reuniting with his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers to reignite Super Bowl glory are over for the 2024 season.

The Jets are looking to rebuild for the 2025 season. In this scenario, as NFL insider Peter Schrager detailed, Adams might be looking at a pay cut next season.

Davante Adams’ Contract Could Be Trimmed by the Jets in 2025

The Jets carried over Adams’ $140 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. According to the deal, the 32-year-old will receive $35+ million in 2025 and 2026. However, per Schrager’s report, that could be an issue.

The Jets are interviewing candidates to fill their general manager position after Joe Douglas’ firing, and the candidates are keen to resolve the quarterback situation. Under a soft reboot, if Rodgers and Adams manage to stay on for another year, they will need to have their contracts trimmed.

Rodgers Is Ready for a Contract Workaround for Himself and Adams

A-Rod has spent 20 seasons in the NFL and is well aware of the talks around the town.

Rodgers has pre-emptively hinted at the expectations of his and Adams’ contract being structured in a way that allows room for more acquisitions.

“I think if you look at both Davante and I’s contracts moving forward for next year, there are cap numbers that would need to be worked around if they wanted to bring us both back,” said Rodgers during his appearance on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show.”

However, Rodgers agreed that the new Jets GM could also go in a different direction and not want the pair back for the next season.

In this case, the fans will have only two more games to view Rodgers and Adams in a Jets jersey.
