NFL Insider Floats Crazy Playoff-Team Landing Spot for Legendary QB Aaron Rodgers With Jets Days Likely Numbered

NFL insider Mike Florio is floating around an interesting landing spot for Jets QB Aaron Rodgers if he does not return to New York in 2025.

Now that the NFL regular season is coming to a close in the next two weeks, rumors abound about certain players, particularly one player recently: New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers.

After dropping subtle hints at a possible union in Tennessee on his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers has stirred the pot, opening the door for others to throw in their two cents on where the veteran QB should land.

Aaron Rodgers Could Be a Fit in AFC North, Says NFL Insider

Rodgers has hinted he might be on his way out of New York but wants to continue to play. NFL insider Mike Florio thinks that Rodgers would be perfect for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“When we try to come up with the list of teams that we know will be looking for quarterbacks in the offseason, it’s a short list, but I think we’ve gotta start moving the Steelers into that category as a strong possibility,” Florio said. “The thought that I had the other day, I’m gonna say it; we’ve seen them make googly eyes at each other during games before, and he’s been playing well the last couple of weeks.

“Oh, Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin, one last ride together.”

Keep in mind that, until recently, the Steelers have done just fine with Russell Wilson as their quarterback. Wilson at times has returned to form throwing for over 2,300 yards and 15 touchdowns in just 10 games as the Steelers march their way to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Rodgers and the Jets are struggling. They’ve only won four games this season with him under center. Rodgers has thrown for over 3,500 yards and 24 touchdowns. Keep in mind, this is a team that won seven games last season without Rodgers at quarterback.

For most quarterbacks, that would be an excellent year, but this is Rodgers we are talking about. Rodgers was expected to lead the Jets to the playoffs and compete for the AFC title. Instead, the former NFL MVP has had to deal with injuries and has a diva-like attitude that has turned fans and ownership off.

Yet, Rodgers still wants to play and will be looking for a home next season, but despite Florio pushing for the Steelers to take Rodgers, it looks like they plan on re-signing Wilson next season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“They’d like to go ahead and keep Russell Wilson and re-sign him to keep him in Pittsburgh. Who’s gonna be out there that’s an upgrade over Russell Wilson right now?” Schefter said.

“There are two logical first-round quarterbacks in the [NFL Draft], they’re not gonna get either one of those. The top free-agent quarterbacks are gonna be Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson. Is there another quarterback in the trade market that all of a sudden gonna spring free? Probably not. So, this is where the Steelers are.”

At least this is where the Steelers are for now, but if Rodgers shows any interest in signing with the team, that might all change.
