Who's in and who's out for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season? Here's the injury report for this week, with updates on Jerome Ford, Zack Moss, and others.

Injuries are an unfortunate reality of NFL life, but everyone who follows the league — fantasy football players, sports bettors, and fans of teams — wants the latest health information. In that vein, we’re tracking every NFL injury ahead of Week 8.

Let’s review the injury report for every game on the NFL’s Week 8 schedule. Remember, you can always stay updated on the latest injury buzz around the league with PFN’s NFL and Fantasy News Tracker.

    NFL Week 8 Injury Tracker

    Houston Texans at Carolina Panthers

    • Texans: WR Robert Woods, OUT (foot); WR Xavien Hutchinson, QUESTIONABLE (foot); TE Brevin Jordan, OUT (foot); G Tytus Howard, QUESTIONABLE (knee/hand); DT Sheldon Rankins, OUT (knee); DT Hassan Ridgeway; QUESTIONABLE (calf)
    • Panthers: WR Laviska Shenault Jr., OUT (ankle); OT Taylor Moton, QUESTIONABLE (knee); EDGE Brian Burns, QUESTIONABLE (elbow); LB Frankie Luvu, QUESTIONABLE (hip); LB Kamu Grugier-Hill, QUESTIONABLE (illness); S Vonn Bell, OUT (quadriceps); S Xavier Woods, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)

Texans: Woods hasn’t practiced this week and is not expected to be ready for Sunday’s game. Fellow wideout Tank Dell was sidelined by a concussion in Week 6, but he’s fully recovered after Houston’s bye and practiced fully today.

Ridgeway is still on injured reserve (IR) but could be activated before Week 8. He’d help replace Rankins, who was limited on Thursday but didn’t practice on Friday.

Panthers: Miles Sanders, who missed Week 7 with a shoulder issue and has been dealing with nagging injuries for most of the season, practiced fully on Wednesday. He’ll play against the Texans but will likely split carries with Chuba Hubbard.

Woods was sidelined for Carolina’s last three games but returned to practice on Wednesday. Bell, his safety running mate, remained out of practice after sitting out of the Panthers’ Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins and will not play on Sunday.

Burns was added to Carolina’s injury report as a limited participant on Thursday and then sat out on Friday. Head coach Frank Reich said the star pass rusher is dealing with a legitimate elbow injury, noting his absence from practice is not related to trade deadline speculation.

Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys

    • Rams: WR Ben Skowronek, QUESTIONABLE (Achilles); TE Hunter Long, OUT (hamstring); OT Rob Havenstein, QUESTIONABLE (calf); LB Ernest Jones, QUESTIONABLE (knee)
    • Cowboys: OT Tyron Smith, QUESTIONABLE (neck)

Rams: Havenstein was a Thursday addition to Los Angeles’ injury report after injuring his calf during practice. Joe Noteboom will likely play right tackle against the Cowboys if Havenstein has to sit out.

Cowboys: Smith reportedly suffered a stinger during Thursday’s practice and now has an uncertain status for Week 8. However, he took all the reps during Dallas’ Friday walkthrough and seems to be on track to play against the Rams.

If Smith can’t suit up, Dallas will likely start Chuma Edoga at left tackle rather than shift Tyler Smith from left guard.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

Vikings: T.J. Hockenson left Minnesota’s Monday night win several times after injuring his foot, then failed to practice Wednesday. But the veteran TE participated later in the week and won’t have an injury designation against the Packers.

Dalton Risner will fill in at left guard again if Cleveland can’t go. Asamoah was limping on Monday Night Football and won’t suit up this week.

Packers: Aaron Jones returned to practice on Thursday and is no longer listed on Green Bay’s injury report. Earlier this week, head coach Matt LaFleur suggested the Packers could ramp up Jones’ playing time but has since indicated he could be on a snap count.

While LaFleur said Jones is probably still not at peak health, the veteran RB said he’s feeling the best he’s felt since injuring his hamstring in Week 1 and hopes to be at 100% on Sunday, per USA Today’s Ryan Wood.

Musgrave didn’t practice until Friday, but wideout Christian Watson — who got nicked up at the end of Sunday’s game — practiced fully despite dealing with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, it’s one step forward and two steps back for the Packers’ defense. Campbell is back at practice for the first time since going down in Week 3, and his potential return should bolster Green Bay’s linebacker corps.

At the same time, Green Bay had to place CB Eric Stokes back on IR. Stokes missed ample time in 2022 and earlier this season with a foot injury and had just returned to the field last week. Now, the former first-rounder is dealing with a hamstring problem.

Starting safety Darnell Savage is also headed to IR with a calf injury. Savage and Stokes will have to miss at least four games before being re-activated to Green Bay’s 53-man roster.

Alexander — who missed last week’s game with a back injury — was demoted from a Wednesday limited practice to a DNP on Thursday. Midweek downgrades are never a good sign for Sunday availability, but he was limited again on Friday.

New Orleans Saints at Indianapolis Colts

    • Saints: WR Micahel Thomas, QUESTIONABLE (illness); TE Taysom Hill, QUESTIONABLE (chest); TE Jimmy Graham, QUESTIONABLE (illness); OL James Hurst, OUT (ankle); G Andrus Peat, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); G Max Garcia, QUESTIONABLE (illness); LB Demario Davis, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Alontae Taylor, QUESTIONABLE (hip); S Tyrann Mathieu, QUESTIONABLE (foot); S Marcus Maye, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring/illness); S J.T. Gray, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)
    • Colts: RB Zack Moss (elbow/heel), QUESTIONABLE; TE Kylen Granson, OUT (concussion); OT Braden Smith, OUT (hip/wrist); DT Eric Johnson II, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); CB JuJu Brents, OUT (quadriceps); CB Tony Brown, QUESTIONABLE (ribs)

SaintsNew Orleans added Thomas to its injury report late on Saturday night. Clearly, an illness has been making its was around the Saints’ locker room.

Tight end Juwan Johnson practiced this week for the first time since suffering a calf injury during pre-game warmups in Week 4. He has no injury designation for Sunday and will help offset any potential absence by Hill or Graham, who are both questionable.

Peat filled in for Hurst at left tackle last Week, but Peat is now questionable with his own injury. New Orleans has been reticent to turn back to 2022 first-rounder Trevor Penning on Derek Carr’s blindside, but the club may have no other choice.

On defense, the Saints’ secondary could be without several key starters. Maye didn’t practice Friday, but his absence was primarily due to an illness. Taylor was limited, while Mathieu ended the week with a full practice.

Colts: Moss has been splitting running back touches with Jonathan Taylor. He had an odd week of practice, with a limited Thursday session sandwiched between two DNPs. Moss is officially questionable for Sunday’s game, but he clearly seems to be hampered.

Fellow TEs Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox will see more work with Granson sidelined by a concussion. Smith missed Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns and did not practice this week. Rookie Blake Freeland will start at right tackle with Smith sidelined again.

Brents, Indy’s second-round pick in April’s draft, went down in Week 7 and could face a multi-week absence.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

    • Patriots: OT Trent Brown, QUESTIONABLE (ankle/knee); OT Vederian Lowe, OUT (ankle); OT Calvin Anderson, OUT (illness); EDGE Josh Uche, OUT (ankle/toe); EDGE Deatrich Wise, QUESTIONABLE (shoulder); EDGE Keion White, QUESTIONABLE (concussion); DT Christian Barmore, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Shaun Wade, QUESTIONABLE (shoulder)
    • Dolphins: RB Raheem Mostert, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); FB Alec Ingold, QUESTIONABLE (foot); WR River Cracraft, QUESTIONABLE (shoulder); C Connor Williams, QUESTIONABLE (groin); CB Jalen Ramsey, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Xavien Howard, QUESTIONABLE (groin); CB Cam Smith, QUESTIONABLE (foot); CB Nik Needham, QUESTIONABLE (Achilles); S Jevon Holland, OUT (concussion)

Patriots: Anderson, Uche, and White were the only players above to miss Sunday’s win over the Bills.

New England’s starting offensive line is finally getting healthy. Brown has carried questionable tags in recent weeks but hasn’t missed time (although he’s now dealing with a new injury). Meanwhile, guard Cole Strange is without an injury designation for the first time this season.

Uche was downgraded from questionable to out on Saturday. He’s been mentioned ad a trade candidate, and his injuries don’t seem severe enough to affect his stock on the market.

Dolphins: Tyreek Hill rarely misses practice and hasn’t sat out of a game since 2020, so his failure to participate in Wednesday’s practice was a concern. But Hill returned to practice on Thursday and is no longer listed on Miami’s injury report.

Mostert is listed as questionable, but he’s expected to play against the Patriots after logging limited practices on Thursday and Friday. The Dolphins could conceivably give Jeff Wilson Jr. more touches as he works his way back into the offense.

Meanwhile, Miami’s secondary is in total flux. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Friday he had “no clue” if Ramsey, Howard, or Holland would be able to play this week.

But the Dolphins activated Ramsey from IR on Saturday, so he’ll suit up in Week 8. And Holland was downgraded to out, so Brandon Jones will see more time at safety.

New York Jets at New York Giants

    • Jets: WR Randall Cobb, QUESTIONABLE (shoulder); WR Irv Charles, DOUBTFUL (shoulder); OL Joe Tippmann, OUT (quadriceps); EDGE Will Mcdonald, QUESTIONABLE (back); CB Michael Carter II, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)
    • Giants: QB Daniel Jones, OUT (neck) TE Darren Waller, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); OT Andrew Thomas, DOUBTFUL (hamstring); OT Evan Neal, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); C John Michael Schmitz, QUESTIONABLE (shoulder); EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, QUESTIONABLE (knee)

Jets: New York’s cornerback group is back intact, as Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed have officially cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and are ready for Sunday’s game. Reed missed two games, while Gardner was sidelined for one.

Cobb didn’t practice on Wednesday and was limited for the rest of the week. Xavier Gipson could see slot snaps if Cobb sits out, but the Jets might also play a high rate of 12 personnel (two tight ends).

With Tippman sidelined, veteran Wes Schweitzer will start at right guard.

Giants: Nothing has changed with Jones’ status as he works his way back from a Week 5 neck injury, and head coach Brian Daboll has already ruled him out of Sunday’s game. Jones was limited in practice again this week but still has not been cleared for contact.

Asked if Jones’ season is over, Daboll said, “I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries.” Notably, Daboll had previously been definitive that Jones will play again this year.

Running back Saquon Barkley was a full participant on Friday and was removed from New York’s injury report. Waller is questionable, but he had the same designation last week and ultimately played.

Fortunately, the Giants could be close to getting their starting offensive line back on the field. Thomas, Neal, and Schmitz have combined to miss 10 games this year, but all three have been practicing this week. Thomas is still considered doubtful to play against the Jets, though.

    Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers

    • Jaguars: QB Trevor Lawrence, QUESTIONABLE (knee); WR Zay Jones, OUT (knee); OL Walker Little, QUESTIONABLE (knee); G Brandon Scherff, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); CB Tyson Campbell, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); S Andre Cisco, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); CB Gregory Junior, OUT (hamstring)
    • Steelers: DL Cameron Heyward (groin); CB Levi Wallace, QUESTIONABLE (foot); CB Joey Porter Jr., QUESTIONABLE (calf); CB James Pierre, QUESTIONABLE (ankle)

Jaguars: Lawrence was limited during last week’s practices but played against the Saints and shouldn’t have any issues getting ready for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.

Jones has appeared in just three games this season while fighting a knee injury. He was the only Jaguar not practicing this week and has already been ruled out.

Campbell, Jacksonville’s best defensive back, was inactive last week but was only expected to miss one game. He was limited this week and is trending toward Week 8 availability.

Steelers: Pittsburgh moved second-round rookie Porter into the lineup on Sunday, shifting Patrick Peterson into the slot while keeping Wallace outside. Porter and Wallace were limited this week, while Pierre was added to the club’s injury report on Friday.

On Thursday, the Steelers announced they’d designated DT Cameron Heyward to return from IR. He practiced fully on Friday and doesn’t have an injury status for Week 8, suggesting he’s likely to be activated.

    Atlanta Falcons at Tennessee Titans

    • Falcons: EDGE Bud Dupree, QUESTIONABLE (groin); LB Tae Davis, OUT (concussion); P Bradley Pinion, QUESTIONABLE (illness)
    • Titans: QB Ryan Tannehill, OUT (ankle); TE Josh Whyle, OUT (concussion); CB Roger McCreary, OUT (hamstring)

Falcons: Atlanta is being scrutinized for how it handled Bijan Robinson’s illness heading into Week 7, but head coach Arthur Smith said his club has been transparent with the NFL. Robinson practiced fully on Wednesday and will play this week.

Dupree must have injured his groin in practice because he wasn’t listed on the Falcons’ injury report until Friday. Lorenzo Carter will see more time on the edge if Dupree is unavailable against the Titans.

TitansTannehill has a high ankle sprain, didn’t practice this week, and will not play against the Falcons in Week 8. While Mike Vrabel said Will Levis and Mailk Willis could both see action on Sunday, Levis is likely to get the start and serve as the club’s “primary QB,” per NFL Network.

McCreary was downgraded from questionable to out on Saturday. Undrafted rookie free agent Eric Garror will be Tennessee’s nickel corner with McCreary sidelined.

Wide receiver Treylon Burks, who missed three games with a knee injury, practiced fully today and is on track to return as the Titans’ WR2 on Sunday.

    Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders

    • Eagles: DT Jordan Davis, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); CB Bradley Roby (shoulder)
    • Commanders: WR Curtis Samuel, QUESTIONABLE (foot); G Saahdiq Charles, OUT (calf); DT Phidarian Mathis, QUESTIONABLE (calf); LB Cody Barton, OUT (ankle)

Eagles: Roby missed last week’s game and didn’t practice this week. Eli Ricks and Josiah Scott split slot snaps when Roby was sidelined on Sunday night and could do so again against the Commanders.

Davis appears to have suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday’s practice. He was a DNP on Friday but still seems to have a chance to play in Week 8.

Jalen Hurts, who wore a knee brace for the second half of Philadelphia’s win over the Dolphins, isn’t even listed on the club’s injury report. Head coach Nick Sirianni said Hurts will be able to play “with no restrictions.”

Commanders: Samuel didn’t practice on Wednesday but was limited for the rest of the week. He seems likely to suit up against the Eagles.

On Saturday, Washington placed left guard Saahdiq Charles (calf) and linebacker Cody Barton (ankle) on IR, meaning they’ll miss at least four games. Veteran Chris Paul or third-round rookie Ricky Stromberg will replace Charles, while David Mayo will now start at linebacker.

The Commanders also activated defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis from IR and removed him from their injury report. A second-round pick in 2022, Mathis missed his rookie season after tearing his meniscus in his NFL debut, then suffered a calf injury during the 2023 preseason.

    Cleveland Browns at Seattle Seahawks

    • Browns: QB Deshaun Watson, OUT (right shoulder); RB Jerome Ford, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); WR Marquise Goodwin, QUESTIONABLE (back); OT Jedrick Willis, QUESTIONABLE (foot/ankle); LB Sione Takitaki (hamstring); QUESTIONABLE
    • Seahawks: RB Kenny McIntosh, OUT (knee); WR Tyler Lockett, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); G Phil Haynes, DOUBTFUL (calf); DT Austin Faoliu, OUT (knee); S Jamal Adams, QUESTIONABLE (knee)

Browns: Cleveland has already announced Watson will not play against Seattle, leaving P.J. Walker to make his third consecutive start under center. A Monday MRI revealed no additional damage to Watson’s shoulder, but the Browns will give him at least one more week of rest.

Ford was expected to miss one to two weeks with an ankle sprain, but he was back at practice on Friday after sitting out earlier in the week. He’s officially questionable, while fellow RB Kareem Hunt — limited on Thursday and Friday — doesn’t have an injury designation.

The Browns elevated RB Jordan Wilkins from their practice squad on Saturday, potentially signaling that Ford won’t be able to suit up this week.

Wills was downgraded and did not practice on Thursday, an ominous sign for his Week 8 availability. He returned on Friday but is still questionable against Seattle. James Hudson III will start at left tackle if Willis can’t play.

Seahawks: While Lockett is officially questionable, head coach Pete Carroll said both he and Adams are expected to play on Sunday. Lockett didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday but returned for a full Friday session.

Running back Kenneth Walker III also failed to practice earlier in the week but is not listed on the Seahawks’ final injury report. He was likely getting rest on Wednesday and Thursday and should be ready for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

Haynes missed Week 7 and will likely sit again in Week 8, leaving Anthony Bradford to make another start at right guard.

    Baltimore Ravens at Arizona Cardinals

    • Ravens: RB Keaton Mitchell, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); WR Tylan Wallace, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); EDGE Odafe Oweh; QUESTIONABLE (ankle); S Marcus Williams, OUT (hamstring)
    • Cardinals: QB Kyler Murray, OUT (knee); DT Kevin Strong, OUT (shoulder); LB Krys Barnes, OUT (hamstring); CB Antonio Hamilton, QUESTIONABLE (groin); S Jalen Thompson, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)

RavensMitchell didn’t practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and fully practiced on Friday. He’s questionable, but full Friday participation suggests he’ll be ready to face the Cardinals.

On defense, Oweh was a Thursday addition to the Ravens’ practice report and failed to participate on Friday. He’s already missed several games this season with an ankle injury. Williams didn’t practice this week and was always expected to miss multiple games with a hamstring issue.

Cardinals: Murray fully practiced this week, but Arizona did not activate him from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Joshua Dobbs will make at least one more start for the Cardinals.

On Saturday, Arizona moved starting left guard Elijah Wilkinson (neck) to IR. Trystan Colon will continue to see action at LG while Wilkinson is out.

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

    • Chiefs: LB Nick Bolton, OUT (wrist)
    • Broncos: No injuries of note

ChiefsBolton is expected to miss roughly two months after undergoing surgery on his dislocated wrist. The veteran linebacker represents a significant loss for Kansas City, but Drue Tranquill played well while replacing Bolton earlier this season.

Broncos: WR Brandon Johnson suffered a hamstring injury during Denver’s Thursday practice and was moved to IR on Saturday. He’ll be sidelined for at least four games.

Cincinnati Bengals at San Francisco 49ers

Bengals: Left tackle Orlando Brown had to depart Cincinnati’s Week 6 win after re-aggravating his groin injury, forcing Cody Ford to play the first left tackle snaps of his NFL career. Brown was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but returned to a full practice on Friday and has since been removed from the Bengals’ injury report.

Rookie RB Chase Brown suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday’s practice and was placed on IR on Saturday. Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans should soak up snaps behind starting RB Joe Mixon.

49ers: QB Brock Purdy began experiencing brain trauma symptoms on the flight home from Minnesota and was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

However, Purdy was back at practice on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the 49ers announced that Purdy cleared the protocol and will not carry an injury designation for Week 8.

Samuel is dealing with a hairline fracture in his shoulder and didn’t play last week. He didn’t practice this week, and San Francisco will hold him out through the club’s Week 9 bye.

Williams was listed as doubtful for the 49ers’ Monday night game but ultimately sat out. He couldn’t practice this week and is officially listed as questionable. Jaylon Moore will make his second straight start at left tackle if Wiliams sits out.

Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Chargers (SNF)

    • Bears: QB Justin Fields, OUT (right thumb); G Nate Davis, OUT (ankle); G Dan Feeney, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Terrell Smith, OUT (illness); S Eddie Jackson, QUESTIONABLE (foot); S Jaquan Brisker, OUT (illness)
    • Chargers: WR Joshua Palmer, QUESTIONABLE (knee); WR Jalen Guyton, QUESTIONABLE (knee); TE Gerald Everett, QUESTIONABLE (hip); DT Otito Ogbonnia, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Deane Leonard, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring); S Alohi Gilman, QUESTIONABLE (heel)

BearsHead coach Matt Eberflus said Fields is week to week and is “progressing” from his dislocated thumb, but the third-year quarterback will not suit up on Sunday night. Tyson Bagent will make his second NFL start.

Rookie running back Roschon Johnson missed the Bears’ last two games after suffering a concussion, but he’s since cleared the NFL’s protocol and fully practiced this week. Johnson will likely split touches with D’Onta Foreman, who scored three touchdowns on Sunday.

Braxton Jones, Chicago’s starting left tackle, has been designated to return from IR. He was limited all week but doesn’t have an injury status for Sunday. The Bears seem likely to activate Jones, and they need him, especially with Davis sidelined and right tackle Darnell Wright dealing with nagging shoulder and toe issues.

On defense, Brisker was downgraded to out on Saturday. Jackson looks like a game-time decision, but Eberflus said the veteran safety is trending in the right direction.

Chargers: Palmer was out of practice until managing a limited session on Friday, a concerning sign for his Week 8 availability. He became Los Angeles’ WR2 when Mike Williams suffered a season-ending injury earlier this year. If Palmer can’t play, first-round rookie Quentin Johnston will see an expanded role opposite Keenan Allen.

Palmer isn’t the only Chargers weapon dealing with an injury. Everett, who left Sunday’s game with a hip injury, didn’t practice on Wednesday but was fully practicing by the end of the week. He should be fine for Sunday.

Ogbonnia and Guyton are still on the PUP list but could be activated before this week’s game.

Las Vegas Raiders at Detroit Lions (MNF)

    • Raiders: LB Divine Deablo, OUT (ankle); LB Curtis Bolton, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Nate Hobbs, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); K Daniel Carlson, QUESTIONABLE (right groin)
    • Lions: RB David Montgomery, OUT (ribs); G Jonah Jackson, OUT (ankle); G Halapoulivaati Vaitai, QUESTIONABLE (back); C Frank Ragnow, DOUBTFUL(toe/calf); DT Benito Jones, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); LB Malcolm Rodriguez, QUESTIONABLE (ankle)

Raiders: Jimmy Garoppolo was back at practice on Thursday after sitting out Las Vegas’ Week 7 loss with a back issue. He returned to a full session on Friday and is expected to start against the Lions on Monday night.

In the secondary, Hobbs practiced for the first time since Week 3. He was limited all week, but Josh McDaniels said the veteran corner is trending in the right direction.

Deablo left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and didn’t practice this week. Luke Masterson replaced the veteran LB in Week 7 and will likely start in Week 8.

Carlson sat out of practice early in the week before managing a limited Saturday session. The Raiders signed fellow kicker James McCourt to their practice squad on Tuesday. He’ll be elevated to the active roster if Carlson is sidelined.

Lions: Montgomery hasn’t practiced this week as he continues to deal with cartilage damage in his ribs. He’ll be held out through Detroit’s Week 9 bye.

Meanwhile, the Lions’ offensive line is banged up. Jackson will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury, while Ragnow seems unlikely to play after failing to practice all week.
