Each team enters Week 1 with optimism for the season ahead, but key injuries can change the outlook. Some teams will need to have depth at key positions to overcome some of today’s injuries.
Here’s an update on the injuries from today’s NFL games.
NFL Week 1 Injury Tracker
Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens
- Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles’ and is out for the season.
- Ravens OT Ronnie Stanley left with a knee injury.
- Ravens DB Marcus Williams tore his pec.
The Ravens played without tight end Mark Andrews today due to a quad injury. Losing two more starters will put more pressure on quarterback Lamar Jackson to carry the offense.

- Texans S Jalen Pitre (bruised lung)
San Francisco 49ers at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (hamstring)
- Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (chest)
- Steelers DT Cam Heyward (groin)
Losing Johnson and Freiermuth for any extended period of time will test the Steelers’ offensive depth. Heyward is a significant loss up front as one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL.
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
- Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (hamstring). Did not return.
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
- Browns OT Jack Conklin (knee)
Losing a two-time All-Pro tackle could slow down what could be a strong Browns offense in 2023. Update: Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, Jack Conklin tore his ACL and will be out for the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
- Jaguars G Brandon Scherff (ankle)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Minnesota Vikings
- Buccaneers DL Calijah Kancey (calf)
- Buccaneers LB Lavonte David was evaluated for a concussion but returned to the game
- Vikings C Garrett Bradbury (back)
- Vikings OT Christian Darrisaw left with an ankle injury but returned later
Bradbury has started 58 games since 2019.
Tennessee Titans at New Orleans Saints
- Saints DE Payton Turner suffered a turf toe injury that will require surgery, per NewOrleansFootball’s Nick Underhill.
Arizona Cardinals at Washington Commanders
- Commanders OL Sam Cosmi was evaluated for a concussion but returned to the game.
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks
- Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett was evaluated for a concussion during the third quarter. Ended up returning.
- Seahawks OT Abraham Lucas and Charles Cross both left with knee and toe injuries, respectively.
Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers
- Chargers WR Mike Williams left with a head injury. Was evaluated for a concussion but returned.
- Chargers RB Austin Ekeler left late in the third quarter with what appeared to be a tweaked foot/ankle ailment. Ended up getting his ankles taped up and didn’t leave.
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
- Packers WR Jayden Reed helped off the field with a right foot injury.
- Packers RB Aaron Jones injured his hamstring and didn’t return.
- Packers LB Quay Walker sustained head injury and was evaluated for a concussion. Didn’t return.
- Bears CB Kyler Gordon was ruled out with a hand injury.
Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos
- Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers left game after sustaining hit to the head in the fourth.
- Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo was evaluated for a concussion and returned to the game
- Raiders safety Tre’Von Moehrig suffered thumb injury and never returned.
- Broncos safety Caden Sterns was carted off with a leg injury. Tight end Greg Dulcich also left with a leg injury. Sterns was ruled out for the season with a torn patellar tendon, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport
Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots
- Eagles LB Nakobe Dean left with a foot injury. Dean is expected to miss several weeks with the injury, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, but will be back to play later this season.
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
- Giants LT Andrew Thomas went down with an apparent non-contact leg injury during field goal block returned for touchdown by Dallas. Stayed in game.
