For the first time since the 1986 season, it’s an NFC East battle for the NFC Championship. After upsetting the No. 1-seed Detroit Lions, the No. 6-seed Washington Commanders are in the title game for the first time since the 1991 season, when they won Super Bowl 26.
They’ll face their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. The No. 2 seed in the NFC held on in the snow for a 28-22 win over the Los Angeles Rams. This marks two appearances in the NFC Championship for the Eagles in three seasons. They reached Super Bowl 57 two seasons ago.
With plenty of injury news in this one, let’s dive into the latest updates.

Latest Injury Report News and Updates
The Commanders took a couple of huge hits in the trenches in last week’s win over the Detroit Lions. First, offensive guard Cosmi was lost for the season with a torn ACL. His loss could be felt all day on Sunday as the team tries to contain the Eagles’ star defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Trent Scott replaced Cosmi following the injury.
The Commanders will also be without defensive tackle Payne after he was downgraded to out on Saturday, Jan. 25, with knee and finger injuries. Payne was originally listed as questionable, but the Commanders are going to play it safe with Payne after he did not practice all week. He could, perhaps likely will, be available for the Super Bowl if Washington gets there. Rookie Johnny Newton should see more playing time.
Quarterback Jeff Driskel (illness) and defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste (shoulder) are listed as questionable.
The two biggest questions entering the week for the Eagles surrounded quarterback Jalen Hurts (knee) and cornerback Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder). Both were banged up against the Rams in the Divisional Round, though Hurts did finish the game.
Positive news this week for both players. Hurts and Mitchell were full participants on Thursday and Friday this week and are good to go for Sunday’s game.
Center Cam Jurgens also had a minor injury concern with a back issue but was able to practice in a limited capacity on Friday. He is listed as questionable for Sunday.
Other than that, besides Covey and Young still being out, the Eagles are in good shape entering the NFC Championship.
