NFL games on TV today (Sunday) for Week 15

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-5) at Atlanta Falcons (4-9)

    Channel: FOX

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

Tampa Bay earned a much-needed victory in Week 14 after a two-game skid to end the month of November. They currently hold the sixth seed in the NFC with a one-game lead over the Cardinals, so there is some breathing room. There’s an outside shot at an NFC South title, but Tampa Bay would have to win out and need the Saints to lose out.

The Buccaneers should have no issues on Sunday, but it’s the Falcons, so who knows what team is showing up. Do we get the complete Falcons team who can move the football down the field and play enough defense to keep the dam from bursting? Or will Tampa’s top 10 defense and Brady be too much for Atlanta to keep up? As previously mentioned, the Buccaneers should have no problem, but Atlanta can always be surprising.

San Francisco 49ers (5-8) at Dallas Cowboys (4-9)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

At 4-9 and last place in the division, you would think there’d be no hope for the Cowboys. But then that would be underestimating the NFC East. If Dallas wins out and gets some favors, there is still a minuscule chance the Cowboys could host a playoff game. Outlandish, I know, but all things are off the table, but the 49ers rushing attack stands in the way.

San Francisco has played against some tough defenses this season while facing many injuries on both sides of the ball. Specifically, in the running back room, both Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman have missed time this season due to various injuries. But all the RBs are now healthy.

Can 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan cook up a little magic against a Cowboys defense giving up a league-high 162.7 rushing yards per game this season? While the Cowboys will come into this game with slim playoff hopes, the 49ers run all over Dallas’ defense.

Detroit Lions (5-8) at Tennessee Titans (9-4)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

This NFL game kicks off at 1 PM ET today, according to the TV schedule. So far this season, Derrick Henry has gashed three of the five worst teams against the run. The Lions have given up 132.8 rushing yards per game this season. Henry alone is averaging 117.8 rushing yards per game, and the Titans are averaging 157.8 on the ground.

Tennessee should have no issues finding success on the offensive side of the ball. But this is a chance for the defense to make a statement and gain some momentum into the postseason.

Houston Texans (4-9) at Indianapolis Colts (9-4)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

Speaking of the Colts, they take on the Houston Texans in an AFC South matchup. Week 14 was a reminder that Deshaun Watson can only do so much with no help. He has been the heart and soul of this entire team, willing the Texans to each one of their wins, but this defense is bad. What’s worse for them is Philip Rivers finding his groove at the best time.

The Colts 44-27 smackdown of the Las Vegas Raiders was promising on many fronts. While Rivers is surging, the rushing duo of Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor has really turned a corner since the start of the season. Colts take care of business against an abysmal Texans defense giving up 406.6 yards per game.

New England Patriots (6-7) at Miami Dolphins (8-5)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

My my my, how the tables have turned. Given what was at his disposal, the valiant Week 14 fourth-quarter comeback effort from rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa was admirable. Miami activated WR Isaiah Ford to the active roster for today’s NFL game and TE Chris Myarick as a replacement. RB Salvon Ahmed was cleared from concussion protocol, and Matt Breida was activated, which will be important with Myles Gaskin stuck on the reserve list.

A whole host of players were added to the injury report yesterday, including questionable designations for players like RB Damien Harris, RB James White, WR Donte Moncrief, and WR Matt Slater. The Patriots’ offense is already without WR Julian Edelman; they can’t stand many more hits. Especially going against one of the best scoring defenses in the NFL.

If Tua has some of his weapons return on offense, the gap is just too wide; the Dolphins take the win in Hard Rock and move one week closer to the postseason.

Chicago Bears (6-7) at Minnesota Vikings (6-7)

    Channel: FOX

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

The Bears finally ended their skid of six losses in a row with a victory over the lowly Texans. However, their divisional matchup in Week 15 with the Vikings offers a tougher challenge. Dan Bailey had a rough Week 14, missing three field goals and one extra point. Mitch Trubisky had a good game against a bad defense last week, but he won’t get a pass against the Vikings.

While the Bears usually defend well against Dalvin Cook in their matchups, the difference-maker this week will be rookie WR Justin Jefferson. The rookie WR exposed the Bears secondary, catching eight passes for 135 yards. The rookie has been on fire this season, and with three games left, he still has a chance to set the rookie receiving yards record.

Seattle Seahawks (9-4) at Washington Football Team (6-7)

    Channel: FOX

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

The Washington Football Team is the NFC East top dog…for now. QB Alex Smith is out this week due to soreness in his calf. This means fans will see the return of Dwayne Haskins under center for Washington. While the offense might be retooling a bit, they have some backup. Washington has one of the top five defenses in the league and a monstrous defensive line led by NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate Chase Young.

However, they face the only team with a winning record remaining on the NFL games today TV schedule this week, the Seattle Seahawks. Bouncebacks come at opportune times, and the Seahawks were blessed. One week after a surprising loss to the New York Giants, Russell Wilson and crew hung 40 points on the Jets in Week 14. Can Washington’s offense make enough plays against a poor Seattle defense?

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-12) at Baltimore Ravens (8-5)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 1 PM ET

Baltimore is hunting Miami for that final wild-card spot. Winning out and a Miami loss would just about guarantee the Ravens a spot in the playoffs. They also have, by far, one of the easiest schedules to end the season. The combined record of their remaining opponents is 8-30-1.

After their heroic Monday Night Football effort, Baltimore’s first overall ranked rushing attack gets to take on a Jaguars defense giving up 145.5 rushing yards per game. At least Jacksonville’s offense will show something that resembles a fight with QB Gardner Minshew back under center.

    Afternoon Games

New York Jets (0-13) at Los Angeles Rams (9-4)

    Channel: FOX

    Start Time: 4:05 PM ET

Welcome to the league’s best against the league’s worst. The Rams have the best defense in football right now; the Jets offense is ranked 32nd and bottom tier in many areas. The Rams defense should destroy the Jets’ offense.

As far as the Rams offense goes, they’ve found some consistency over the past few weeks. Since Goff’s nightmare in Miami, the Rams are 4-1 and leaders of the NFC West. Their matchup in Week 15 is much kinder than Seattle’s date with Washington. New York has given up 35 points or more four times this season, and this game could complete the NFC West’s sweep of the Jets.

Philadelphia Eagles (4-8-1) at Arizona Cardinals (7-6)

    Channel: FOX

    Start Time: 4:05 PM ET

Two former Oklahoma QBs from the Lincoln Riley era square off in Glendale, Arizona, at 4:05 PM, according to the NFL games today and their TV schedule in Week 15. Jalen Hurts completed 17 of his 30 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 18 times for 106 yards against the Saints in Week 15, grabbing the Eagles their first win since November 1st.

Arizona is currently the seventh seed with a one-game lead over Minnesota and Chicago. Arizona should be able to take advantage of Philadelphia’s mangled secondary and maintain their spot in the postseason.

Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) at New Orleans Saints (10-3)

    Channel: CBS

    Start Time: 4:25 PM ET

The final late NFL game on TV today, according to the Week 15 schedule, features a potential Super Bowl preview. After an embarrassing loss last week to the Philadelphia Eagles, Saints QB Taysom Hill finally gets the hook as Drew Brees has been cleared to return.

However, with Brees’ return, New Orleans sees All-Pro WR Michael Thomas return to IR, meaning he will miss the remainder of the regular season. Brees’ return should get the passing game back on track and possibly help the Saints remember just how much of a weapon RB Alvin Kamara is in the passing game.

Kansas City silenced a late fourth-quarter comeback attempt from the Dolphins. They proved the biggest threat to a second Super Bowl run is themselves. It’s not every week you turn the ball over four times and control the game as they did in Week 14. Miami is one of the best scoring defenses in the league, and the Saints are no slouch either, but this game will be decided on how well Brees and the Saints offense perform in his return under center.
