Thursday Night Football returns this week with another less-than-stellar offering when the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Houston to take on the Texans. The Eagles continue to prove that they are part of an elite group this season, while the Texans are simply trying to crawl themselves out from the bottom of the barrel. Here’s how to watch the NFL game today, including start times, channels, and live stream options.
NFL Games Today | Thursday, Week 9
This week’s Thursday Night Football game is the eighth of 15 matchups being showcased on Amazon Prime this season. This is the first season of the tech giant’s decade-long mega-deal after acquiring the rights to TNF over the past offseason.
While the game is only available nationally through Amazon Prime, there are other ways to watch the game if you live in the team’s local market. You can stream the game in those markets using either Vidgo or fuboTV, which both provide users access to live sports across multiple devices and platforms.

It is hard not to feel bad for Amazon right now. The higher-ups must be scratching their heads as they are forced to present another underwhelming Thursday Night Football matchup, this time between the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.
The Eagles come into this one with the league’s best record at 7-0. And now, their only challenge to going 8-0 is a Texans team that they have never lost to in the five times they have played throughout the years. Additionally, this would be the first time in franchise history that the Eagles could have a record of 8-0.
What the Eagles are doing this year is nothing short of incredible. They are currently averaging 28 points per game and are one of the most balanced all-around offenses, throwing for 245.9 yards and rushing for 149.6. They have the third-best scoring attack in the league, and the sixth-best run game.
On the other side of the ball, they are only allowing only 16.9 points per game. They currently rank near the top of every metric in football. This was all before they added Robert Quinn ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Things are nowhere near as rosy in Houston. Where the Eagles are on one side of the spectrum, the Texans are literally on the complete opposite. They rank either last or nearly last in most key metrics and struggle both offensively and defensively. They are only averaging 16.6 points per game, and are throwing for less than 200 yards per contest.
The Texans are dead last in the league against the run and gave up over 300 yards on the ground in their last game against the Tennessee Titans. The lone bright spot for this team has been the play of rookie running back Dameon Pierce.
The betting lines for this one are quite telling of where these two teams currently rank in the eyes of sportsbooks. The Eagles are two-touchdown favorites (-14) on the road, which is the largest spread out of all the games this week.
This discrepancy is also pretty obvious in our own PFN Power Rankings, where NFL Analyst Dalton Miller has the Texans ranked in our Unadulteraded Awfulness Tier 6 and the Eagles in the Elite Tier alongside the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell broke down this game in his early NFL picks and predictions.
“The Eagles just defeated the Steelers by 22, while Houston mustered only 10 points against a barely middling Titans defense. So why isn’t this point spread 20+ points?
“Well, of course, that’s now how things work. But yeah, this is a battle between two franchises going in opposite directions. Houston’s in Year 2 of what appears to be a four- or five-year rebuild, while the Eagles are angling for the Super Bowl. I don’t see how Houston keeps this one within 18 points.”
