The Conference Championship NFL games today schedule kicks off at Lincoln Financial Field as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The most efficient defenses in the NFL go head-to-head, a matchup that seemed inevitable as the season came to a close.
The 49ers’ 12-game win streak has been extremely impressive. However, they get a real test on Sunday. Rookie seventh-round QB Brock Purdy has exceeded expectations stepping into this offense, but only two of his wins — the Seahawks and Raiders — came on the road. Those aren’t exactly shining examples of sturdy defenses.

This will be the most formidable challenge of San Francisco’s season. Philadelphia fielded one of the best pass defenses in the NFL this season. Purdy’s run has been fun, but he’s on borrowed time. His ability to extend plays with his legs is a valuable asset over Jimmy Garoppolo, but Purdy puts quite a few throws in harm’s way.
Additionally, Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts looks healthy and confident. Despite teeing off against a formidable defensive opponent, the Eagles’ offense is in a groove, and Philadelphia has the most to lose in the Conference Championship round. The Linc is going to be rowdy.
Cincinnati Bengals (3) at Kansas City Chiefs (1)
- Channel: CBS
- Start time: 6:30 p.m. ET
- Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV
The AFC rounds out Conference Championship weekend with one of the most thrilling matchups over the last couple of seasons. After dismantling Buffalo in Orchard Park, the Bengals head to Arrowhead Stadium, or “Burrowhead” as they’ve called it this week, to take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Bengals and Chiefs have gone head-to-head three times since Joe Burrow took over as QB in Cincinnati; Burrow has emerged victorious every time. The last two matchups have resulted in 27-24 victories for Cincinnati — last season at Arrowhead in the 2022 AFC Championship Game and then again in Week 13 of the 2022 regular season.

The significant determinant in this game is the health of Patrick Mahomes’ right ankle. Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round. He missed a series but did return and finish the game. According to Kansas City HC Andy Reid, the All-Pro QB is moving around well and will start.
Both squads ended on terrific runs, with Cincinnati winning 12 of its last 13 games and Kansas City winning 11 of its previous 12. While the Chiefs are confident in the offensive game plan, this Lou Anarumo Bengals defense has feasted over the last quarter of the season.
When two titans clash, the fans should be in for a fantastic product; either of these teams would give the NFC quite the challenge for the Lombardi Trophy.
