The regular season has now come to an end. Teams have locked up their playoff seedings, coaches and general managers have started to get fired, and nearly half the league is looking ahead to the 2023 NFL Draft. With all that being said, NFL fans might be left wondering if there is any Thursday Night Football tonight. Or, do we need to wait until the weekend for the Wild Card Round to officially begin?
NFL Games Today: A Return for Thursday Night Football?
No, there are no NFL games today. Football will return on Saturday when the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers officially kick off the Wild Card schedule.
Even if we do not have football tonight, we can still look ahead to what should be an excellent weekend slate.
The Seahawks squeaked into the last NFC Wild Card spot thanks to a shocking Detroit Lions win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. And now, Seattle is rewarded with a tough NFC West battle with the San Francisco 49ers in the first round. The Niners have 13 wins on the year and have somehow looked better with third-string QB and Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy, under center.
Saturday night, we get to watch the Los Angeles Chargers head down to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. Both are young, fun teams, and both are hungry for playoff success.

Unfortunately for Chargers fans, their head coach did the unthinkable and allowed the starters to play in a meaningless Week 18 game. Well, the football gods were not pleased, and a combo of injuries to Mike Williams and Joey Bosa was their punishment.
Sunday will give us three games, starting with the AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. After a terrible stretch of losses, the Dolphins barely squeaked into the playoffs, and now they get a juggernaut opponent in the Bills. They will also potentially be without their top two QBs, needing to rely on Skylar Thompson to give them a chance.
The other two games on Sunday see the New York Giants visit the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens battle the Cincinnati Bengals.
Wild Card Weekend comes to an end with a Monday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay made the playoffs with a losing 8-9 record and hasn’t looked like a very convincing contender this season. However, Tom Brady has never lost to the Cowboys. It should be a fun one.
