Here’s how to watch the NFL games today, including start times, TV channels, livestream options, and more.

Are There Any NFL Games Today? Saturday Football Week 3 Preseason Schedule

The third day of Week 3 of the 2024 NFL preseason sees eight more matchups kicking off. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions are the featured matchup in a group of five games at 1 p.m. ET to get the Saturday action started.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks round the night out with a 10 p.m. ET kickoff in the Pacific Northwest.

Here’s how to watch the NFL games today.

    Carolina Panthers at Buffalo Bills

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1 p.m. ET
    • Channel: Local
    • Live stream options: NFL+
    • Radio stations: 99.7 The Fox, WGR 550 AM
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: CAR -4.5
      • Total: 30.5
      • Moneyline: CAR -210, BUF +180

The first NFL game today sees the Carolina Panthers heading to Highmark Stadium to take on the Buffalo Bills.

Two weeks and two duds from Carolina this preseason, as the team has struggled in Dave Canales’ first weeks as head coach. Second-year quarterback Bryce Young and veteran backup Andy Dalton have been held out the first two weeks, and the offense has struggled.

QBs Jack Plummer and Jake Luton haven’t led the team down the field well, and no receiving weapons have stood out for the Panthers so far this preseason. Also, outside of Dillon Johnson’s action in Week 2, the rushing attack has found no ground either.

While the Panthers have quite a few starters sitting out, how much of a difference will they make if the depth isn’t performing well?

Meanwhile, the Bills bounced back from a rough 33-6 loss to the Chicago Bears with a 9-3 win over the Steelers. Tyler Bass has gotten a lot of work this preseason, hitting all five of his field goal attempts over the past two weeks. However, the Bills have been held out of the end zone through two matchups.

After quarterback Josh Allen led the offense to a field goal on the second drive of Week 1, Mitchell Trubisky has taken over as the primary quarterback this preseason, and his performance has been mediocre at best.

While Allen continues to sit, the Bills will need Trubisky to step it up with quarterback Shane Buechele on injured reserve with a neck injury.

Additionally, given the amount of turnover in the offseason, there have been concerns with the productivity of the wide receiver room so far. Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, the Bills’ 2023 receiving leaders, were moved in the offseason. While second-year tight end Dalton Kincaid looks to replicate an impressive rookie season, Buffalo needs someone like WR Khalil Shakir or TE Dawson Knox to step up and fill in some of the missing targets.

Shakir has only gotten 19 snaps in two games this preseason, but he leads the Buffalo receiver room with 33 yards. Offseason free agent signing Curtis Samuel looked good in his brief Week 1 action but will need to provide a lot more to make up for the void left by Diggs and Davis.

Seeing an improvement from WR Keon Coleman would also go a long way, as the rookie has caught just two of his six targets.

    Pittsburgh Steelers at Detroit Lions

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1 p.m. ET
    • Channel: NFL Network
    • Live stream options: NFL App, NFL+, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV
    • Radio stations: WDVE 102.5 FM, 97.1 The Ticket
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: PIT -7
      • Total: 35
      • Moneyline: PIT -310, DET +250

The next matchup on Saturday sees the Pittsburgh Steelers heading to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions.

The Steelers had another disappointing outing, dropping their second preseason game. While the Steelers were able to find the end zone twice in Week 1, the offense struggled in QB Russell Wilson’s debut in the black and gold. The Steelers were scoreless in Wilson’s five drives to start Week 2.

However, once Justin Fields entered the game, the offensive production turned around.

After a three-and-out, Fields led the Steelers to the Buffalo 25 for a field goal just before the end of the first half. Fields navigated Pittsburgh to the red zone two more times, but the Steelers would turn the ball over on downs both drives.

While Wilson was rusty, the gap between the two quarterbacks is insignificant. Should Fields outperform Wilson again in the final preseason matchup, it’s fair to wonder which quarterback should start for the Steelers, and it will create quite a bit of drama.

Although Wilson was brought in to be the starter, losing his spot to Fields could be another nail in the coffin of his career.

On the other hand, the Lions bounced back nicely after serving up a 14-3 dud against the Giants in Week 1.

Nate Sudfeld scored a touchdown and completed 14 of 27 attempts for 196 yards with an interception. His competition, Hendon Hooker, looked good returning from a concussion against New York, completing 12 of his 15 attempts for 150 yards and punching in a 7-yard touchdown after orchestrating a seven-play, 70-yard drive.

His snaps were limited due to the concussion, but Hooker is completing 70.8% of his passes and has protected the ball well so far. The second-year QB has only been sacked once compared to Sudfeld’s four and has added 45 yards on the ground and scored the only Detroit rushing touchdown in the preseason.

With one more matchup left before the regular season, Hooker and Sudfeld have one last chance to solidify their spot as the backup.

Baltimore Ravens at Green Bay Packers

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1 p.m. ET
    • Channel: Local
    • Live stream options: NFL+
    • Radio stations: Ravens Gameday Coverage, Packers Radio Network
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: GB -3
      • Total: 33.5
      • Moneyline: GB – 162, BAL +136

The next matchup sees the Green Bay Packers hosting the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field.

The Ravens bounced back from a rough Week 1 loss with a tough-fought 13-12 victory over the Falcons. Starting QB Josh Johnson vastly improved on his Week 1 performance, completing all 11 passes, including a six-yard touchdown pass to RB Owen Wright.

Rookie QB Emory Jones also showed growth on his disastrous NFL debut. After fumbling away the game in his Week 1 appearance, Jones bounced back, completing seven of his nine attempts for 100 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown toss to WR Dayton Wade.

Both will get another chance to duke it out for the backup position in Week 3 as Baltimore looks to keep Lamar Jackson on the sideline this preseason.

While the passing attack finds its way, the rushing attack could improve.

Free agent addition Derrick Henry has yet to appear in the purple and black. It would’ve been nice to see the first-team All-Pro RB get some snaps, but given how demanding the Ravens’ rushing attack can be, preserving Henry’s health for the regular season makes sense.

The Packers, however, had a much different result in Week 2. After grabbing the win against Cleveland in the preseason debut, the wheels fell off against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.

While all the starters got to rest, it seemed like the backups were not ready to take on the Broncos. After a week of getting outworked in practice, Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur was also not thrilled with the poor effort in the exhibition matchup.

The offense, led by Sean Clifford and rookie Michael Pratt, couldn’t convert anything, as the only points of the day came from a safety on Broncos QB Zach Wilson late in the third quarter.

Undrafted free agent WR Grant DuBose has shown to be a reliable presence, but the Packers will be looking for more production from everyone in the final week of the preseason.

    Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1 p.m. ET
    • Channel: Local
    • Live stream options: NFL+
    • Radio stations: KFAN FM 100.3, 94 WIP
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: PHI -2.5
      • Total: 33.5
      • Moneyline: PHI -135, MIN +114

The next matchup on the NFL games today schedule sees the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Minnesota Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field.

After a week of horrific news, the Vikings picked up a 27-12 win over the Browns and some confidence for the rest of the season. Losing first-round rookie QB J.J. McCarthy in the first week of the preseason was brutal, but QBs Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall’s performance had to ease Vikings fans’ minds.

A member of the Vikings for the last two seasons, Mullens completed 11 of his 21 attempts for 135 yards and a touchdown against the Browns. Meanwhile, Hall made the most of his newly-found snaps, completing four of his five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, including a 71-yard shot to Jeshaun Jones.

Sam Darnold has the starting gig locked up, but Mullens and Hall will have quite the competition for the backup slot behind the 2018 first-round pick.

Additionally, the rushing attack needs a better showing in the preseason finale. While offseason signing Aaron Jones should take the majority of the load, presumed backup Ty Chandler is getting outperformed by Kene Nwangwu. Will the fourth-year back edge Chandler out for the RB2 slot?

On the other hand, the Eagles kept the positive momentum going with a second preseason win but still lacked the punch from the offense.

After scoring 16 points in their preseason debut, the Eagles could only muster up 14 points against the Patriots in Week 2.

QB Jalen Hurts has yet to appear in either exhibition matchup for Philadelphia, but the results of the first two games do not bode well for the Eagles’ backup quarterback plan.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett played the entire first half and completed 11 of his 13 passes for just 67 yards. Former Stanford QB Tanner McKee pushed the offense down the field better, helping Philadelphia score their only touchdown of the night, completing 15 of his 19 attempts for 140 yards.

While Pickett performed better in Week 1, McKee pushed the team to a win in Week 2. Who will prevail in the battle of the backups in Week 3?

No matter the winner, the Eagles’ coaching staff will hope for an improvement from both signal-callers so they know they have a solid backup plan should Hurts go down with an injury.

Los Angeles Rams at Houston Texans

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1 p.m. ET
    • Channel: Local
    • Live stream options: NFL+
    • Radio stations: ESPNLA 710 AM, SportsRadio 610
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: HOU -3.5
      • Total: 33.5
      • Moneyline: HOU -205, LAR +170

The final early afternoon matchup on the NFL Games today schedule features the Los Angeles Rams heading to NRG Stadium to take on the Houston Texans.

While his starts haven’t looked the best, there’s no denying that Rams QB Stetson Bennett shows up when he’s needed the most.

In a rollercoaster of a preseason, the former Georgia quarterback has ridden the highest of highs and lowest of lows.

In Week 1, Bennett threw four interceptions but would throw a last-second touchdown to TE Miller Forristall to secure a 13-12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Similarly, in Week 2, after committing two turnovers, Bennett would lead the Rams on a three-play, 70-yard drive, ending in a 47-yard touchdown pass to rookie WR JJ Laap to take the lead.

While the Rams allow Matthew Stafford to rest in the preseason, watching Bennett’s growth has been interesting. He is still adjusting to the speed of NFL play but has no issues stepping up when the team needs him most, an essential quality in a backup quarterback.

While Bennett’s journey has taken over, be on the lookout for sixth-round rookie WR Jordan Whittington, who has easily led the Rams’ WR core through the preseason.

Did the Rams find another late-round WR star to add to Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua?

As for the Texans, if the Hall of Fame Game hadn’t been rained out, Houston could be looking at an undefeated preseason record. Second-year phenom C.J. Stroud saw another quarter of action but did not score like his debut in Week 1. However, the defense rose up while the offense had a tough start.

Houston hassled QB Daniel Jones in his first action since tearing his ACL last season, intercepting New York’s QB1 on back-to-back drives and returning the first for a touchdown.

Those were just two of the five turnovers the Texans forced as they punched out three fumbles. While boasting one of the better rushing defenses in 2023, the Texans hope to improve upon a passing defense that was in the bottom third of the NFL last year.

Second-round CB Kamari Lassiter and C.J. Henderson were brought in to add depth to the secondary. At the same time, pass rushers like Danielle Hunter, Denico Autry, and Azeez Al-Shaair were signed to bolster an already suffocating front seven.

Will the defensive additions help to solidify the Texans’ defense?

Los Angeles Chargers at Dallas Cowboys

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 4 p.m. ET
    • Channel: NFL Network
    • Live stream options: NFL App, NFL+, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV
    • Radio stations: ALT FM-98.7, 105.3 The Fan
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: DAL -3.5
      • Total: 33
      • Moneyline: DAL – 192, LAC +160

The next matchup in Week 3 of the NFL preseason sees the Los Angeles Chargers traveling to AT&T Stadium to take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Another week and still no touchdown in the Chargers Jim Harbaugh Era.

While Cameron Dicker converted three field goals last week, Los Angeles fans must wait for their first taste of the end zone in 2024.

Incumbent backup QB Easton Stick struggled, completing eight of his 13 attempts for 85 yards and an interception. He continues to fight off UFL QB Luis Perez, who completed 13 of his 20 passes for 78 yards.

While the passing offense struggled, Los Angeles saw some improvement from the rushing attack as rookie sixth-round RB Kimani Vidal converted 11 carries into 49 yards.

While the defense has held opponents to no more than 16 points, the Chargers’ coaching staff will pray for more offensive competence. Getting held out of the end zone in all three preseason matchups would not be a good sign heading into the regular season.

Justin Herbert will come back, but a team should be able to occasionally rely on their backup to generate some offense.

Conversely, the Cowboys bounced back nicely from a Week 1 loss, beating the Las Vegas Raiders 27-12.

QB Trey Lance improved mightily in his second week of action, completing 15 of 23 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown while adding 34 yards and a touchdown scamper on the ground. The former 49ers’ third-overall pick has shown plenty to take the backup job from Cooper Rush.

The Cowboys also got quite a boost of confidence in their kicker, Brandon Aubrey.

After getting the ball back in the second quarter with 27 seconds remaining, Lance drove the Cowboys to the Raiders 48-yard line. With three seconds left, Aubrey lined up and converted a 66-yard field goal, which would’ve been tied with Justin Tucker for the longest field in NFL history … if it was the regular season.

With all three levels of the game improving from their preseason debut, the Cowboys can feel a lot better about the minimal amount of moves they made in the offseason.

Now, if they can get one of Dak Prescott, Ceedee Lamb, or Micah Parsons under contract, the preseason will have gone as well as it could have.

New York Giants at New York Jets

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 7:30 p.m. ET
    • Channel: NFL Network
    • Live stream options: NFL App, NFL+, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV
    • Radio stations: WFAN 101.9FM/660AM
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: NYG -2.5
      • Total: 31
      • Moneyline: NYG -148, NYJ +124

The next matchup on the NFL games today schedule features a battle for New York as the Giants and Jets go head-to-head in MetLife Stadium.

It wasn’t the prettiest of action, but seeing Daniel Jones on the field again under center was a move in the right direction after the quarterback tore his ACL last season. While Jones was able to make his return, he was intercepted on back-to-back drives in the first quarter.

His two interceptions were just the start of five turnovers committed by the Giants in Week 2.

After most of the Texans’ starters went to the sidelines in the second quarter, Jones was able to navigate around the field, orchestrating a seven-play, 68-yard drive to tie the game at 7-7. However, the lead would not last, as the Texans would score 21 more points.

There’s still plenty of room for improvement for the Giants, and the fact that their QB1 wasn’t effective until after the Texans’ starters were pulled is a bit concerning.

The clock on New York’s rebuild got pushed up massively due to the team’s success in 2022. The struggles in 2023 need to have fans realize this Giants team is still quite a few years off from being a playoff contender.

Meanwhile, the Jets have pulled off two preseason victories, but the quality of their opponents has not been the best.

Taking down the Commanders in Week 1 wasn’t too shabby, but defeating the Panthers in Week 2 with only field goals is a bit of a concern.

Rookie QB Andrew Peasley struggled immensely, completing seven of his 11 attempts for just 33 yards.

2024 UFL MVP and Championship Game MVP QB Adrian Martinez didn’t fare much better, completing seven of his 17 pass attempts and tossing an interception.

While Tyrod Taylor has the backup slot locked down, neither Peasley nor Martinez is doing themselves any favors to stay on the roster.

If it weren’t for kicker Austin Seibert connecting on all four field goals, the Jets would’ve lost.

The struggles from New York’s QB3 and QB4 may not be all that surprising, but the fact that the rushing attack and receiving core have not made up for their struggles is a bit more concerning. Someone must fill in behind WRs Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, and RB Breece Hall.

    Cleveland Browns at Seattle Seahawks

    • Start time: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 10 p.m. ET
    • Channel: NFL Network
    • Live stream options: NFL App, NFL+, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV
    • Radio stations: 92.3 The Fan, Seahawks Radio Network
    • Betting lines:
      • Spread: SEA -1
      • Total: 36.5
      • Moneyline: SEA -112, CLE -108

The final matchup on the NFL games today schedule features the Cleveland Browns heading to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks.

With Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston getting to rest in the Browns’ second preseason matchup, Tyler Huntley and Dorian Thompson-Robinson got a chance to make their case as the backup QB. They both struggled as their opportunity vanished in front of their faces.

The duo played poorly as Huntley threw two interceptions, and Thompson-Robinson tossed one of his own. Thankfully, they were the only two turnovers of the game, but they created enough of a hole that the Browns could not climb out of. The first interception ended a drive about to hit the red zone, and the Vikings turned the second into seven points.

Watson has yet to appear this preseason, but that’s expected to change in Cleveland’s preseason finale against the Seahawks. How will the Browns’ QB look in his first action since his season-ending shoulder injury in November 2023?

As for the Seahawks, Sam Howell got another opportunity to solidify his status as Geno Smith’s backup in Seattle. He took his second opportunity and ran with it, completing 11 of 15 attempts for 153 yards and a 23-yard touchdown to Easop Winston Jr. to give the Seahawks a 6-0 lead early on. In two appearances, Howell has directed the Seahawks offense to 25 points.

Smith has also been sidelined the past two weeks as the Seahawks determine which of Howell or P.J. Walker will be his backup. However, with the preseason finale on the horizon, Seahawks rookie head coach Mike Macdonald will look to get Smith some snaps against the Browns this week.

Also, pay attention to Seahawks kicker Jason Myers. While the veteran kicker has converted all his field goals, he’s missed two of three extra-point attempts.
