Jets, Packers Far Off on Aaron Rodgers Trade

I’ve heard people say both the New York Jets and Packers lack leverage in a Rodgers deal, so it’s not surprising the teams share the same discrepancy. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets have low-balled the Packers with an offer similar to their conditional fourth-round compensation for Brett Favre 15 years ago.

However, PFN Senior Analyst Trey Wingo — who first had that Rodgers wanted to go to the Jets last week — said the trade terms are much closer. Things can change quickly in trade talks, especially as Green Bay realizes they’re the ones lacking leverage in this situation. Rodgers can easily retire or just come back to the team if they overplay their hand.

All Is Quiet On Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson became eligible to speak with teams while on the non-exclusive franchise tag Wednesday at 4 pm ET, but there haven’t been any reported discussions thus far. It seems like a mistake for teams like Washington and Las Vegas to ignore a potentially available star. Even if the Ravens can scare teams away by threatening to match any offer, it’s at least worth seeing what Jackson’s contract demands are.

Darius Slay Is Back in Philadelphia

Darius Slay just endured a crazy 48 hours. One day after allowing their star cornerback to seek a trade, the Eagles were set to release the 32-year-old Slay with a June 1 designation after they couldn’t extend his contract. Philadelphia re-signed James Bradberry instead, and at least their decision to cut bait early was understandable from a financial view.

However, less than 12 hours after reports emerged he’d be cut, Slay tweeted that he was “Back like I never left!!!” The Eagles and Slay are now expected to find more common ground on a new deal. That sounds like one side caved in when a change was imminent.

    Dalton Schultz to L.A.?

The Cowboys don’t seem interested in bringing Schultz back, as NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported the team hasn’t even made him an offer. I don’t blame Dallas, as they’re having to spread spending across other needs. Schultz is a solid but not a massive difference-maker for their offense.

Yet, The Score’s Jordan Schultz reported the Los Angeles Chargers are interested in reuniting offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Schultz, but the price hasn’t been right. Considering how well veteran Gerald Everett played on a value deal, the Chargers are wise to have a clear price tag in mind.
