The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Foye Oluokun on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Oluokun led the Falcons in tackling during the 2021 season.
Jaguars agree to terms with Foye Oluokun
The Jaguars were interested in upgrading their linebacker room in free agency and targeted Oluokun as a priority defender. According to Rapoport, Oluokun agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with Jacksonville.
Oluokun will team with longtime middle linebacker Myles Jack in the middle of the Jaguars” 3-4 defense. New defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell was able to watch Oluokun up close during their shared time in the NFC South over the past few years.
Oluokun, a Yale alum, produced 462 tackles, 5 sacks, 5 interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 7 forced fumbles during his four years with the Falcons. An overarching defensive playmaker, Oluokun should complement Jack as a fellow inside linebacker. Just 26, Oluokun, listed as 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, could be a long-term piece for Jacksonville. He will be able to hit free agency again at 29.
