With three days of NFL free agency now in the books, most of the best players are off the board. That includes Calvin Ridley, who signed with the Tennessee Titans.
But there still are plenty of good players on the open market. Moreover, their deals with new teams can be made official now that the legal tampering period is behind us. With that in mind, let’s look at some of the best remaining NFL free agents after Day 3.
Who Are the Best Remaining NFL Free Agents After Day 3?
This list is subject to change, as the first two days of free agency saw multiple deals get reported late in the night. But, at the time of this writing, these were some of the top players still on the market:
- CB Kendall Fuller
Best fits: Colts, Falcons Steelers - WR Mike Williams
Best fits: Chargers, Chiefs, Jets - OT Tyron Smith
Best fits: Patriots, Chiefs, Jets - EDGE Chase Young
Best fits: Panthers, Saints, Titans - WR Hollywood Brown
Best fits: Chiefs, Ravens, Seahawks - DL Arik Armstead
Best fits: Bears, Lions, Bengals - S Justin Simmons
Best fits: Patriots, Commanders, Giants - CB Stephon Gilmore
Best fits: Bills, Steelers, Cardinals - EDGE Jadeveon Clowney
Best fits: Panthers, Falcons, Packers - DT D.J. Reader
Best fits: Bengals, Lions, Colts
- OT Trent Brown
Best fits: Chiefs, Jets, Bengals - S Kamren Curl
Best fits: Patriots, Colts, Vikings - S Justin Blackmon
Best fits: Panthers, Giants, Browns - WR Curtis Samuel
Best fits: Patriots, Chiefs, Colts - QB Jimmy Garoppolo
Best fits: Vikings, Jets, Bears - WR Michael Thomas
Best fits: Chiefs, Jets, Bears - DE Calais Campbell
Best fits: Saints, Chargers, Rams - CB Xavien Howard
Best fits: Patriots, Steelers, Cardinals - LB Devin White
Best fits: Bucs, Patriots, Bills
There aren’t many stars on that list, but there are plenty of starting-caliber players who would be great pickups.
Simmons would be a great addition to a team that needs a free safety, like the New England Patriots. He’s a playmaker and has a ton of experience.
Fuller, Gilmore, and Howard also would make any cornerback room better. Fuller is the youngest and probably has the most upside, but Gilmore and Howard both still have plenty left in the tank.
Need a tackle? Trent Brown is a headache off the field but is a beast when engaged and healthy. Smith clearly is on the back nine, but he’d be a great one-year option for a team that believes it can compete but needs to shore up its O-line.
And then there are players who have something to prove, such as Young, Clowney, and Garoppolo. Young’s talent is undeniable, but injuries and inconsistency have prevented him from reaching his vast potential.
As for the receivers, Williams, Samuel, and Hollywood Brown all are solid No. 2 options. Williams, who was released Wednesday, is coming off a torn ACL but probably is the best of the three. Brown has a ton of speed but is overrated.
