Dan Chisena Returning to Carolina
WR CAR
Chisena re-signed with the Panthers on a one-year contract Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
Chisena began the 2024 season in Arizona before joining Carolina's practice squad mid-October, ultimately appearing in six games with the Panthers. He secured three of four targets for 37 yards in that span. Now, Chisena will work to put together a strong offseason and earn another reserve role on offense during the 2025 campaign.
Levi Onwuzurike Re-signs with Detroit
DT DET
Onwuzurike is re-signing the Lions on Wednesday via a one-year, $5.5 million contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
Onwuzurike impressed in 2024, with 28 tackles (16 solo), including 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble across 16 regular-season appearances. Reuniting with the team on a one-year deal now primes Onwuzurike for another chance to prove his ability to thrive as part of an interior defensive lineman rotation, before he hits free agency again in 2026.
Ben VanSumeren Returning to Philadelphia
LB PHI
The Eagles re-signed VanSumeren (knee) to a one-year deal Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
VanSumeren was a key special-teamer for Philadelphia in 2024 before sustaining a season-ending knee injury following a Week 12 win over the Rams. He made 11 appearances and recorded three total tackles (all solo) while playing 209 special-teams snaps. After re-signing with the Eagles, VanSumeren is expected to play a similar role in 2025.
KhaDarel Hodge Returns to Atlanta on two-year deal
WR ATL
Hodge is re-signing with the Falcons on a two-year, $6 million contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
Hodge rejoins Atlanta, where he's spent the last three years handling a depth role on offense while contributing as a key special-teamer. He's suited up for all 17 regular-season games in each of those years, having secured seven of 12 targets for 131 yards and one score in 2024.
Maliek Collins Coming to Cleveland
DT CLE
Collins signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Browns on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
Following a one-year stint in San Francisco, Collins has found a new home in Cleveland. The Nebraska product started all 17 games for the 49ers in 2024, logging 33 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, while playing 688 defensive snaps. The nine-year veteran is expected to start alongside Dalvin Tomlinson, strengthening the Browns' interior defensive line.
Javon Hargrave Moving to Minnesota
DT MIN
Hargrave signed a two-year, $30 million deal with the Vikings on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
The 32-year-old defensive tackle has found a new home in Minnesota after spending the last two seasons with the 49ers. Hargrave dealt with a tricep injury that sidelined him for the majority of San Francisco's 2024 campaign, limiting him to just three games. However, he played in 16 regular-season contests in 2023, recording 44 total tackles, including 7.0 sacks, and two passes defended across 600 defensive snaps. Hargrave is expected to see plenty of playing time alongside Harrison Phillips and Jonathan Allen on the Vikings' new-look defensive line in 2025.
Evan Engram Signing with Broncos
TE DEN
Engram (shoulder) is signing a two-year contract with Denver, according to agent Mike McCartney.
Analysis
The Jaguars released Engram in early March, about 11 weeks after he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He may not practice this spring but should be ready by Week 1, at which point he'll be 31 years old and taking over as the top pass-catching TE in an offense that sent just 13.1 percent of its targets to the position last year (second lowest rate in the league). That number will rise considerably if Engram stays relatively healthy, although he's unlikely to match his per-game volume from the past two years in Jacksonville, where injuries to Christian Kirk and other wideouts forced extra targets in the tight end's direction.
Russell Wilson Visiting Cleveland
QB PIT
Wilson is expected to visit the Browns this week, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis
The report notes that Wilson is "still in the mix" to re-sign with Pittsburgh, although that likely depends in part on Aaron Rodgers choosing a different team. Justin Fields, meanwhile, is set to sign with the Jets, leaving the Steelers with limited options if things don't work out with Rodgers. As for Wilson, a move to Cleveland would put him in a rough situation in terms of the supporting cast, and there'd also be risk of the team then drafting a rookie quarterback. Deshaun Watson may also be a factor at some point, but he won't be available at the beginning of the season, having undergone surgery in January after rupturing his Achilles tendon for a second time in less than three months.
Jack Sanborn Inks deal with Dallas
LB DAL
The Cowboys signed Sanborn to a one-year deal Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
The 24-year-old linebacker from Wisconsin will reunite with Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who served as the Bears' head coach for most of Sanborn's three-year tenure in Chicago. Sanborn had the worst year of his career in 2024, tallying a career-low 35 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, along with three passes defended over 17 regular-season appearances and 228 defensive snaps. Now in Dallas, he's expected to compete for the one of the team's starting inside linebacker roles.
