Week 18 Defense Streaming Options
If you’re looking to defenses, it’s important to look at the matchups. Here are three solid options to consider plugging into your lineups for this week.
Tennessee Titans @ HOU
Despite performing very well as of late, the Tennessee Titans’ defense is still rostered in only 23.6% of NFL.com fantasy football leagues, and they get the Houston Texans’ offense for the final game of the season.
Over the last four weeks, the Titans are the ninth-best defensive unit, and they are second in the league with 6 INTs over that period. Houston, with Davis Mills at quarterback, has actually employed a fairly clean offense. Nonetheless, with a struggling ground game and not many weapons on the outside other than Brandin Cooks, Tennessee should be able to limit their opportunities similar to the 49ers holding Houston to only 7 points in Week 17.
Washington Football Team @ NYG
The New York Giants are a complete mess right now, and so is their quarterback play. They’ve scored a total of 19 points in their last three games and have no semblance whatsoever of a passing game.
Mike Glennon was under center for the Giants in Week 17, and he completed only 4 passes for 24 yards, with 0 TDs and 2 INTs. They have the worst offense in football outside of Saquon Barkley.
Glennon is having surgery for a hand injury that will cause him to miss the team’s last game, putting Jake Fromm in line to get the start. In his lone NFL start, he completed 6 passes for 25 yards with 0 TDs and 1 INT. He also fumbled once. It was a Glennon-ish stat line.
The front of the Washington Football Team should go bananas on the Giants’ offense, and they should be locked into as many lineups as possible.
Chicago Bears @ MIN
The Minnesota Vikings had a day to forget, with Sean Mannion getting the start in place of Kirk Cousins. Mannion did throw 1 TD, but the offense as a whole was stagnant and only scored 10 points in a blowout by the Packers.
Cousins will have a chance to clear the COVID-19 protocol ahead of their rematch with the Chicago Bears. But even if he does start, the Bears held him to only 87 passing yards two weeks ago. The Vikings were somehow able to put up 17 points in that game, but the Bears generated 4 sacks and 1 INT. Chicago is coming off a dominant win against the New York Giants. The Bears should find success against the Vikings, especially if Cousins is forced to miss another week.
