‘What Kind of Madness Is This?’ – NFL Fans Split Over Jets’ Decision To Release Super Bowl-Winning QB Aaron Rodgers

Football fans reacted on social media to the news that Aaron Rodgers will no longer be the quarterback of the New York Jets.

On Feb. 13, it was officially announced that the New York Jets and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be going in different directions next year. Earlier in the day, ESPN reported the Jets had informed Rodgers of their decision to part ways. As a result of this, football fans have taken to social media to discuss the recent news.

Social Media Reaction to New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers Decision

ESPN broke the news on X and outlined how the Jets were moving away from Rodgers at the QB position.

“Breaking: The Jets have informed Aaron Rodgers that the team will be moving in a different direction at quarterback,” the post detailed.

In response, one individual was shocked with the Jets’ decision considering the NFL is largely a quarterback-driven league and Rodgers is a Hall of Fame-level QB.

“INSANE. This is a HOF QB! Do you know how rare that is??? What kind of madness is this? How do you just walk away from a HOF QB in a QB driven league??,” they stated.

However, one person took a drastically different tone, outlining how they were not surprised about the latest news.

    “Not surprised here,” they said.

Finally, the popular sports betting company DraftKings replied and asked whether Rodgers would now become a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Future Steelers QB?,” they questioned, alongside a graphic designed photo of Rodgers wearing a Steelers uniform.

Where Will Rodgers Play Next Year?

At this time, there appears to be some uncertainty regarding the future of Rodgers in the NFL. He has remained quiet on his plans for next season, whether that means retiring or, after the latest news, playing for another franchise.

Though he struggled for most of this past campaign, he was coming off a ruptured Achilles and is 41 years old right now. Furthermore, he looked better as the season progressed and looked much more like himself in the final five games of the season.

He averaged 254 passing yards per game, had nine touchdown passes, and only three interceptions in his last five games of the regular season. As a result, though his career will not be continuing as a member of the Jets, it’s evident that Rodgers may still have something left in the tank for another NFL team.
