America’s Team is getting roasted, and not in a fun, barbecue kind of way. NFL fans are coming for the Dallas Cowboys after the latest news surrounding the team’s current offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer. The franchise, which loves to boast about its legacy, is now under fire for its recent moves (or lack thereof).
Schottenheimer’s addition to Dallas’ head coaching search has fans baffled, questioning if the Cowboys are serious about contending or just chasing headlines.
Fans Roast Cowboys as Brian Schottenheimer’s Potential Hiring Sparks Instant Backlash
After news broke that Schottenheimer could soon join the Cowboys’ coaching staff, fans were quick to react, with one even tweeting, “Cowboys are an unserious franchise,” perfectly summing up the sentiment.

Others couldn’t believe how quickly things escalated: “Whoa whoa whoa. How do we go from he is going to be interviewed to there is a deal on the table already! You gas lighting us?”

Another took a jab at Jerry Jones’ future plans, wondering if this move is a secret plot to tank for Arch Manning.
“You think Jerry thinking about tanking this coming season for someone like arch manning?,” the fan quipped.
And it didn’t stop there.
One user commented, “Why is this even a dang reality.? The Cowboys front office is the laughing stock of the league.”
Schottenheimer’s potential hiring is being labeled as another “textbook Jerry” move. One fan even remarked that it’s “truly remarkable” that Jones might hire someone “less desirable than Deion [Sanders] and Kellen [Moore].”
Ouch.
At this point, the Cowboys front office is getting roasted. And this is Jones we’re talking about. With his track record, anything’s possible.
Cowboys Shake Up Coaching Staff After Disastrous Season
The Cowboys are tossing out the old playbook after their horrendous 7-10 season. First, HC Mike McCarthy got the boot, and now special teams coach John Fassel is packing up and heading to the Tennessee Titans.
Fassel’s five-year run with the Cowboys wasn’t exactly a failure. Under his guidance, the special-teams unit ranked among the NFL’s elite, with kicker Brandon Aubrey and punt returner KaVontae Turpin earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.
But even with success, Fassel’s future wasn’t clear after McCarthy’s shaky contract situation.
“Obviously, we all want to come back,” Fassel said at the time. “But if that’s not the case, we’ll scour the wire and see if we can find something else…It’s going to be stressful. But I’m excited also to see what’s next.”
Players like Aubrey are none too pleased. Now, with Fassel gone and McCarthy out the door, the Cowboys have more than a coaching shake-up on their hands.
Will this new direction spark something better? Fans sure hope so. But for now, it’s a whole lot of change in Big D.
