The news has been flooded with NFL free agency recently. However, other stuff is going on behind the scenes too. One of those things? The Houston Texans‘ new jerseys. While they won’t be fully announced until April, Texans owner Cal McNair leaked a picture of them on Reddit. How is the NFL world reacting?
Houston Texans Jersey Leaks Prompt Strong Reactions
Early on Monday, posts were going around with what was believed to be leaks of the Texans’ new jerseys going into 2024. However, everything was just speculation until McNair confirmed them himself, with a picture of wide receivers Tank Dell and Nico Collins wearing them.

“I’d find the design team member who settled on this number font and fire him immediately,” one fan said on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Clean and simple can be done extremely well … These aren’t that,” that same fan said.
The initial leak of the jerseys, which turned out to be true, showed them not worn by a player, making it a less-than-ideal image to be released. “They suck?” said Jeff Lloyd, the host of a Cleveland Browns podcast.
“Oh wow … Those are dreadful,” Demetrius Harvey said, a Jacksonville Jaguars beat reporter, on X. “Feel like jerseys should be figured out by now. SO, so many talented folks out there. We all see the mock ups. What gives?”
The Texans’ steel blue uniforms have been a staple for the franchise since its inception in 2002. However, those are going away with the Texans announcing new jerseys for the first time in franchise history. The new jerseys will reportedly incorporate H-Town Blue in each of the four uniforms, paying homage to the Houston Oilers.
The Oilers uniforms were brought back in 2023, but it was the Tennessee Titans who wore them, as they are technically the franchise that was previously the Oilers, still owning the name and team branding.
“I could’ve sworn those was ours,” defensive lineman Jonathan Greenard said, who was on the Texans before signing with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. “But at the end of the day, they [Tennessee] can wear them. They took a L in them at the end of the day.”
“Not a fan, 4 out of 10,” another NFL fan said on X. “Rather have Battle Red, not a fan of blue. Looks like Bears uniform. Boring,” another said.
“Leaked pic? How about a real photo of Nico and Tank!? Way more to come in April!,” McNair said in his Reddit post. No specific date has yet been set for the reveal, but it’ll be sometime in April, based on his post.
