The Dallas Cowboys boast a pan-American fanbase and have a rich heritage of elite football played under their banner. However, their drought in team success has reached new lows, leaving their long-term fanbase resigned to playoff mediocrity.
NFL Fans React to Cowboys’ Extended NFC Championship Drought
One of the stats that has been doing the rounds on social media is the Cowboys’ 29-season hiatus from an NFC Championship Game appearance — the longest streak among current NFC teams.
With Washington’s win tonight, every NFC team other than the Dallas Cowboys now will have played in a conference championship game going back to the 1996 season.
The Cowboys last NFC title game appearance was 1995.

Jokes about the Cowboys’ inability to make a deep playoff run have been an NFL online community staple. With the conversation getting fresh oxygen following their division rivals’ NFC Championship entrance, some NFL fans got their best stuff off.
A fan noted how two of their bitter division rivals, the Eagles and the Commanders, both have quarterbacks younger than their NFC Championship absence.
Jayden Daniels & Jalen Hurts were born, grew up in life, went to college, became pro athletes & still made the NFC Championship before the Dallas Cowboys🤣🤣

Another noted how the Commanders’ dysfunction over the past three decades has still left them with a deeper playoff run recently.
Commanders been rebuilding for 20+ years and gonna make the NFC Championship before the Cowboys still pic.twitter.com/f6SuneGMRn

With Dez Bryant and Micah Parsons entering a beef on social media yesterday, more opportunities for jokes were found and seized.
Cowboys fans watching the Commanders make the NFC Title Game, while Dez and Micah are beefing online and the team is still looking for a head coach, but realizing nothing will change because Jerry Jones runs the team… #DallasCowboys pic.twitter.com/qL4qbBQM2C

The unfortunate part of this Cowboys’ drought is that owner Jerry Jones is undoubtedly fully invested in his team. He’s put together competitive rosters consistently, only for them to fail in the postseason.
Jokes aside, that's really pathetic, especially since Dallas has a good team every single year.

There are clearly some things going on in the Cowboys’ organization that hold them back from their full playoff potential. It has been argued that their teams have lacked the mental fortitude to stay composed in high-leverage situations.
With Mike McCarthy leaving and former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn guiding his new team to the championship stage, it is time for an upheaval in the Cowboys’ front office.
