Daniel Jones’ Tequila Tribute: A Spicy Holiday Gesture for Giants’ O-Line

Jones just made Christmas in the NFL a little spicier — literally. The ex-Giants QB, now grinding on the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad, gifted limited-edition bottles of Clase Azul tequila to his old offensive linemen.

ESPN NFL Nation writer Jordan Raanan spilled the details on X, noting the classy move despite Jones no longer being under center for the Giants.

Fans, ever quick with the commentary, crowned him the “richest practice squad player ever” while taking playful jabs at the unique gesture.

One joked, “He sent them alcohol cause he knows being on the Giants makes you wanna drink,” riffing on the team’s struggles this season.

Another chimed in, “He just forgot to hit cancel from his early-season pre-order,” poking fun at the timing.

Some took a more sentimental route.

“At least they can drink and forget,” a nod to Jones’ roller-coaster tenure with the Giants.

Others wanted something flashier, like an Anthony Muñoz jersey, perhaps hinting at the protection Jones could’ve used on-field. “Should’ve sent them an Anthony Munoz signed jersey instead,” the fan noted.

The gesture reflects Jones’ gratitude to the men who battled in the trenches for him, even if the season didn’t pan out as planned. Whether the tequila smooths any lingering tension or fuels more debates, one thing’s clear: Jones knows how to keep his name buzzing in NFL circles, even from the practice squad.

    Daniel Jones’ Contract Details

In March 2023, leading up to the franchise tag deadline, Jones signed a lucrative extension to remain with the Giants.

The QB signed a four-year, $160 million deal, receiving $81 million in fully guaranteed money, including his signing bonus and 2023 and 2024 base salaries. The deal also featured $35 million in additional incentives.

The Giants’ decision to give Jones this lucrative payday looked like a mistake at the time, and it continues to hinder the franchise. Jones missed most of the 2023 season with various injuries (including a torn ACL), and he struggled when he did play.

It’s also worth noting that Jones’ contract is likely a big reason why he was benched and ultimately released by the team, as $23 million of his $30 million base salary in 2025 was guaranteed for injury. That means if Jones suffered a severe injury at some point this season and could not pass a physical next spring, the Giants would owe him that money.
