‘Tanking To Get Picked by Philly’ – NFL Fans React to Abdul Carter Not Working Out at Combine

Abdul Carter is set to miss the NFL Combine and Philadelphia Eagles fans see this as an opportunity for the Super Bowl champions to draft the defensive tackle.

Penn State’s Abdul Carter has grabbed everyone’s attention before the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the defensive end will not be able to showcase his talent at the NFL Scouting Combine this year.

NFL fans found creative ways to suggest that this should drop his stock in a bid for their team to eventually pick him up, the loudest voices being that of the Philadelphia Eagles’ fanbase.

Abdul Carter Skips the NFL Combine and Fans Want Him Even More

On Tuesday, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight that the 21-year-old will not be attending the Combine and gave the reasons for doing so as well. In a lengthy post, he also reported Carter will be working out on Penn State’s pro day.

“Penn St. DE and potential No. 1 pick Abdul Carter will not work out at the combine because he has not fully recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered vs. Boise State, according to his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey,” Schefter posted.

“Rosenhaus said he also is sending a letter today to all NFL teams from Dr. Dan Cooper, stating that Carter has just now been cleared to resume training and will be cleared for his March 28 pro day.”

Being Carter is a Philly native, it’s not a surprise Eagles fans are clamoring for him to join their team’s ranks. Despite the fact the Eagles hold the 32nd overall pick, the fanbase says they see this as an opportunity for them to draft Carter.

“Not cleared, picks 1-31 should not draft him,” replied one fan.

“Bro is tanking to get picked by Philly,” tweeted a fan.

“Bro is injury prone. None of the 31 teams should give him a shot tbh,” added a fan.

However, it’s not just the Eagles fans that are hoping that Carter’s stocks falls, since other teams’ fans want him on their roster as well.

“My gawd Browns can’t get anyone without some existing baggage,” one fan responded.

“Oh no, I hope he doesn’t fall to 9,” tweeted a New Orleans Saints fan.

“Crazy red flags…y’all should definitely let him fall to 11,” one San Francisco 49ers fan added.

Unsurprisingly, as per PFSN’s latest mock draft by Owain Jones on Feb. 25, Carter is drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the first overall pick. It will be interesting to see whether Carter’s injury troubles will make the Titans nervous or whether they will pounce on the elite pass rusher when they’re on the clock.
