‘That’s Just Weird’ – NFL Fans React to the Hilariously Strange Way Saints Coaches Prepared Players for Green Bay’s Freezing Temperatures

Despite being out of the playoff picture, New Orleans Saints coaches had an odd way of having their quarterbacks prepare for Green Bay's cold weather.

Dealing with adverse weather conditions is a major element of NFL games. With teams competing in open fields, braving the elements becomes a major factor week in and week out.

Last season, too, the playoffs were majorly impacted by the cold. Whether it was the discussion around the Miami Dolphins or the Buffalo Bills changing the date itself, weather was the story of the postseason.

As a result, every year, players and coaches try to find unique ways to accustom themselves to the conditions. The New Orleans Saints, making the trek to Lambeau Field in Green Bay this week, had a bizarre idea of their own, and fans were onto it in a flash.

Fans Question New Orleans Saints’ Unorthodox Coaching Idea

Trusted NFL reporter Kat Terrell brought the scoop on the idea Saints quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko had for his team — taking all his QBs into the walk-in freezer at the team’s cafeteria, where they ran through their plays.

The idea was as bizarre as it came. With the team in shambles due to injury — Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, Derek Carr, and Alvin Kamara have been on ice (pun intended) — the idea was a noble one from a competitive standpoint.

However, the Saints’ 5-9 record has already ruled them out of the playoffs for this year. Fans were similarly bamboozled by the idea. For one, a strong performance wasn’t going to change the outlook on the season. But as they put it, “gotta try something, I guess.”

Others could see what was nice about the idea. However, to them, the lack of a wind chill was going to be hard to replicate.

“I mean I suppose that could help, no wind chill in there though.”

While others saw a similar problem with the approach, they were willing to see the results before judging the process.

“Wind chill and cold are two very different things. Let’s watch and see how it worked!”

But for most, the idea was just plain “weird,” while others questioned if putting the team at such risk was even “a good idea”?

With Carr likely out for the year, a QB room of Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener wasn’t going to positively move the needle for New Orleans. Nevertheless, this is a team that has had surprising performances throughout the year.

Take the first two games, for example, where they went off for 91 combined points. With an unorthodox idea in place, perhaps they can play spoiler against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau.
