‘They Let Anyone In’ — Fans Raise Eyebrows as Russell Wilson Makes Pro Bowl Roster

Russell Wilson could not solve the Pittsburgh Steelers’ postseason woes, and the quarterback missed much of the early regular season with an injury.

Hence, fans were surprised to learn that Wilson will participate in the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. This is Wilson’s 10th entry into the Pro Bowl after a gap of two years (his last nomination was in 2021).

Russell Wilson Making Pro Bowl Leads Fans To Question Its Legitimacy

Pittsburgh ended its season with five straight losses, including the Wild Card Round loss against the Baltimore Ravens. Wilson was the starting QB in all of these games, which has left a sour taste in the mouths of Steelers fans.

The QB ended the season with 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns, as well as a QB+ grade of 75.3, 17th in the NFL. With a record of 6-5, fans around the NFL were shocked when the Steelers’ official X (formerly Twitter) page announced that Wilson made the 2025 Pro Bowl roster.

They didn’t mince their words while reacting to this news as well. “How the hell is that possible,” replied one fan.

“They let anyone in,” posted a fan.

“Everyone else they called had something else going on or they just elected not to participate cause this dude is far from being a probowler,” added a fan.

“Shows why pro bowls mean nothing,” responded one user.

“Oh so we’re just naming anyone now,” another fan added.

“How did bro make pro bowl games,” posted one user.

Steelers’ Owner Breaks Silence Over Wilson’s Future

After being cut by the Denver Broncos, Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. His contract ended with a 6-6 overall record, and many are wondering whether he will be resigned or not.

During the season-ending press conference on Monday, Jan. 27, Steelers owner Art Rooney II highlighted that the QB issue is the “biggest piece of the puzzle” for his team this offseason.

“I think both of them see themselves as starters, and I don’t know that they want to share the job again,” Rooney said regarding Wilson and Justin Fields. “So, I would say most likely we don’t wind up bringing them both back.”

It’s expected that Fields’ age gives him an advantage over Wilson if the Steelers bring back only one QB, which seems likely at this point in time. In this case, Wilson may have to play for his third team in three years.
