On Jan. 30, Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders made a defensive play trending on X (formerly known as Twitter). The video sees Sanders playing coverage defensively and making a pass breakup against the opposing receiver. As a result, football fans have started discussing the nice play on social media ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders, the brother of fellow prospect Shedeur Sanders, is expected to be selected in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. Though not the top prospect that his brother is being projected to be, Shilo Sanders can make an impact at the NFL level, something on display in the recent social media release.
Social Media Reaction to Shilo Sanders’ Play
The popular football X profile @SkoBuffsGoBuffs posted the video of Sanders making the defensive play.

In response, one person teased how that would have been pass interference on Shilo and an ejection if his team were playing the Kansas City Chiefs.
“That’s a PI and he would be ejected if he was playing the chiefs,” they stated.

Sanders’ Shrine Bowl Recap and 2025 NFL Draft Projection
Sanders had a strong showing in the Shrine Bowl game and made key plays for his team, as seen in the video. On the official box score, he was recorded as having four tackles.
In Pro Football Network’s recent seven-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Sanders was selected in the seventh round, No. 229 overall by the NFC South’s Carolina Panthers. Should he be drafted by the Panthers, he would be playing on a defensive unit that also features cornerback Jaycee Horn.
Sanders is a strong tackler who can make crushing hits and set the tone for his team while also having a strong football IQ that allows him to create turnovers.
The Panthers took a step in the right direction at the end of the past campaign after Bryce Young retook the starting quarterback job. The franchise finished the year with a 5-12 record but looks poised to improve drastically next season. As a result, Sanders being drafted by the organization could prove beneficial for both parties.
