‘He Been Playing Bad All Season’ – NFL Fans React to Robert Griffin’s Take on Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ quest for a three-peat ended on Feb. 9 when Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles routed them in a 40-22 upset in Super Bowl 59. With just 2:52 left on the clock, Hurts left the field to loud applause, while Mahomes had to face the critics, including NFL analyst and former quarterback Robert Griffin III.

NFL Fans React to Robert Griffin’s Take on Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes had a rough game from the start. His 17 passing yards in the first quarter were his lowest of the season, well below his average of 57. By the end of the second quarter, he had thrown two interceptions, the first time he’d ever done that in the initial half of a playoff game, and finished with only 33 yards.

As the game progressed, Griffin tweeted, “Never seen Patrick Mahomes play this bad.”

NFL fans reacted to the comment with some jumping on the bandwagon to dethrone the quarterback.

“He been playing bad all season bro you haven’t been watching?? lol,” a user said.

    “Agree 💯,” another fan wrote.

The Chiefs’ offensive line had not protected Mahomes’ blindside all that well in the 2024 season, and Sunday’s game shined the spotlight on their vulnerabilities in a way that was impossible to ignore.

“No offensive line protection. A QB is as good as the protection the line gives him.” A fan reasoned.

During the Chiefs’ first drive, Mahomes was tackled hard by Jalen Carter, and his head slammed against the ground.

Some fans feared he may have had a concussion, with one saying, “He took an extremely nasty whiplash on a really early tackle and his head bounced hard off the ground. I think he played with a concussion or just was completely out of it I didn’t wanna tell anybody.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defense is regarded as the true star of the game, sacking Mahomes six times and forcing three turnovers. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s unit, which ranked first in yards allowed and second in points allowed, held the Chiefs scoreless for almost three full quarters.

“Amazing what consistent and smart pressure can do. He rarely had time to set his feet and make reads. Crazy how good the Philly front four played and dominated. Hurts was great but the true MVPs were the D-linemen.” A fan noted.

“It was that monster front four causing confusion and delay! I loved every second,” another fan echoed.

Mahomes found some rhythm in the second half, but the game was already out of reach. He finished with 257 passing yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and a fumble.
