‘Nobody Is Enjoying This’ — NFL Fans Take Issue With ‘Ridiculous’ Officiating Favoring the Chiefs During Texans Game

NFL fans reacted to the officiating during the Houston Texans-Kansas City Chiefs game in Week 16 in a potential playoff preview in the AFC.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 27-19 in Week 16 and improved to 14-1 on the season. It was another classic Chiefs win in which Patrick Mahomes and the offense avoided making mistakes while their defense protected the lead.

Some questionable calls went in favor of the Chiefs during this game, and as usual, a lot of fans on social media were unhappy with it.

NFL Fans Had Issues With Refs’ Decisions During Chiefs vs. Texans

Throughout the season, the fans have voiced their concerns about the level of officiating in the league. Since this was a stand-alone game and the Chiefs were playing, there was more outrage on social media than usual.

The fans pointed out how Patrick Mahomes’ team benefited from multiple calls, without which the result of the game could have been different. Here are some of the reactions:

“If you’re not watching the Chiefs game, you should see the absolute performance the refs are putting on,” said one fan.

Another fan added, “How does a fumble recovery for a touchdown for the Texans magically transform into an incomplete pass and a bulls**t roughing the passer penalty against Mahomes? Ridiculous!!! You can’t make this up.”

“It’s disgusting! I can hardly watch football anymore,” wrote a fan.

“HoF performance from the Refs on behalf of the Chiefs,” said another fan.

The Chiefs have not played exciting football this season, yet they have the best record in the league (14-1). No matter what situation they find themselves in, the defending champions come out on top. Their habit of winning ugly games has irked many fans, which is why everyone tries to find reasons to undermine their results.

However, Mahomes and the other Chiefs players have shown throughout their dynastic run that they are an excellent, well-coached football team. Their offense, defense, and special teams make the play whenever required, which is why they have lost only one game this year.

The Chiefs can lock up the first seed with a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas, and hopefully, we will get a fairly officiated game so the fans don’t have reasons to undermine any team’s performance.

Kansas City’s Defense Had Another Solid Game

The Chiefs’ defense has been consistent for the majority of the last two seasons, but there were some noticeable issues after Jaylen Watson’s injury. Kansas City gave up 30 points to the Buffalo Bills, 27 to the Carolina Panthers, and 17 to the Las Vegas Raiders in three straight weeks, which was a cause of concern (24.7 PPG allowed).

However, recent performances have suggested that Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has found the solution to those problems. The reigning Super Bowl champions limited the Cleveland Browns to seven points last week and the Texans to 17 in Week 16.

The Chiefs defense has also forced six interceptions in the last two games, with star cornerback Trent McDuffie getting one each in both games. The team’s offense has also started playing better, and how Mahomes performs will go a long way in improving the defense’s production.

Hollywood Brown made his debut for Kansas City against the Texans, and the team will be ready to win their next game to seal the first seed in the AFC. Similar to the previous seasons, the Chiefs are peaking at the right time, and they are well-positioned to win a third straight Super Bowl.
