‘Future Bust,’ ‘Lets Go’ — Fans Left Debating as NFL-Bound Jalen Milroe Accepts Invite To Play in 2025 Senior Bowl

    Published on

Jalen Milroe's participation in the upcoming Senior Bowl has fans praising and dismissing his skills as he prepares for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe joins fellow teammates Malachi Moore, James Burnip, and CJ Dippre, who accepted the invite to participate in the upcoming Senior Bowl and give NFL scouts a glimpse of their talent ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Fans Divided Over Jalen Milroe’s Participation at Senior Bowl

The Senior Bowl’s official X (formerly known as Twitter) account confirmed the news of Milroe’s participation in the upcoming star-studded offseason event. Several fans reacted to it, with some convinced of the quarterback’s skill while others believing he’s a “bust.”

“Jalen Milroe is going to get exposed in the senior bowl 😭,” one fan commented.

“He’s going to be a big baller in Mobile!!!” another wrote.

“Bros gonna ball out,” another posted.

    “Future bust,” one fan wrote.

“Another reason to skip watching the Senior Bowl,” one fan said.

Milroe started the year as a Heisman favorite but endured upset losses during the season, resulting in his Crimson Tide being left out of the 12-team playoff field. To make matters worse, Alabama suffered a soul-crushing 19-13 loss against unranked Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

The starting quarterback has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, following a year in which he led the Crimson Tide to a 9-4 record. He threw for 6,016 yards and scored 78 total touchdowns in his college career. In 2023, he led the team to the CFB semifinals before losing against the eventual champions, Michigan.

Milroe Could Boost His Draft Stock at the Senior Bowl

By participating in the Senior Bowl, Milroe hopes to put on a spectacle at an event attended by many NFL scouts and personnel.

Milroe is often projected to be among the next-best quarterbacks on the draft board behind Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward. However, several athletes have benefitted from inspiring performances in pre-draft all-star events, where some of the best college football talents showcase their skills.

Milroe, who joined Alabama in 2021, recorded 426 completions on 663 attempts, giving him a solid 64.3% completion rate. He averaged 9.1 yards per pass attempt and threw for over 6,000 passing yards along with 45 touchdowns. Despite 20 interceptions and 73 sacks, he maintained a respectable career passer rating of 156.8.

His standout season came in 2023 when he recorded 2,834 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and a career-high 172.2 passer rating.

Milroe is also a good rusher. Over four seasons, he accumulated 1,577 rushing yards on 375 carries, averaging 4.2 yards per carry and scoring 33 rushing touchdowns. His 2024 season saw a surge in rushing production, with 726 yards on 168 carries, an average of 4.3 yards per attempt, and 20 rushing touchdowns—the highest of his career.

If he can make an impression in the upcoming Senior Bowl, it could assuage doubts held about Milroe as he presents a complicated draft evaluation, with high highs and low lows on his profile. The all-star game will be played on Feb. 1, 2025, at the University of South Alabama at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
