Maxx Crosby is under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders until 2027, but his recent comments indicate that he might leave the franchise much sooner.
The Raiders recently traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets and are 2-4 heading into Week 7. They will be among the teams looking to draft a quarterback next year and possibly rebuild. As a result, Crosby does have some concerns about his future with the team.
Maxx Crosby’s Comments Hint at Potential Raiders Exit
Crosby recently spoke to the media and made it clear that he is not looking forward to being part of a rebuild.
“I’m not here to rebuild, I’m here to win. Whatever that means … but I’m here to win now. WHEREVER I’M GONNA BE, I’m gonna be here to win …,” the Raiders star said.
Crosby’s comments do hint that he might get traded as well. Fans on social media began speculating about his future, with the majority of them thinking that the Detroit Lions could pursue him. Here’s how fans reacted to it:
He wants to be in Detroit so bad. But man Bear down 🤷🏾♂️

“If the Lions get Maxx, they are Super Bowl favorites. Simple as that. I know Brad Holmes loves his picks (as he should), but it’s time to make a splash move after the injuries to Hutch and Davenport. Bring Maxx Crosby home,” said one Lions fan.

Crosby was born in Lapeer, Mich., and played college football for Eastern Michigan University. He is well-loved in Detroit, and following Aidan Hutchinson’s season-ending injury, there is a high possibility that he might play for the Lions.
Crosby is one of the best players at his position and will be the ideal replacement for Hutchinson. Moreover, if the Lions can get the 27-year-old defensive end, they will likely be the favorites to win the NFC.
Crosby’s Contract Details
Crosby signed a four-year, $94 million extension with the Raiders. According to Spotrac, the defensive end will cost $16.8 million in 2024 against the salary cap of the team that trades for him. He is due to get a non-guaranteed payment of $23.1 million in 2025, which will decrease to $19.7 million in 2026.
As of now, the Lions have $28.2 million in salary cap and can afford the the three-time Pro Bowlers’s contract. Detroit is projected to have $87.9 million in cap space next year and will be able to keep Crosby beyond this season.
Trading for him might cost a first-round pick, but he will be a valuable addition for the Lions. When Hutchinson gets back healthy, he and Crosby will be a dominating duo who will keep the Lions’ Super Bowl window open for years to come.
Not only the Lions fans but the San Francisco 49ers fans also urged their team to pursue Crosby. The 49ers can also afford the Raiders player, and if he does end up getting traded, the team that acquires him will have a big edge over the others.
