On Feb. 3, FOX 8 Cleveland anchor and reporter P. J. Ziegler interviewed Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt ahead of Super Bowl 59. While discussing various topics, Ziegler asked Hunt to give his thoughts on Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett’s request to be traded.
Hunt and Garrett played together in Cleveland for five seasons. As a result, football fans have taken to social media to discuss the Garrett situation and Hunt’s answer to Ziegler’s question.
What Did Kareem Hunt Say About Myles Garrett?
While appearing at the Super Bowl Opening Night media availability, Hunt made clear that he supported Garrett’s decision to request a trade from the Browns.
“I mean, I understand, you know, he wants to win. You know he’ll wanna be able to experience a Super Bowl. He wants to be on a great program. And right now, I feel like he’s been there eight years, and he’s trying his best to do everything to help the team win, I don’t fault him for feeling that way,” Hunt stated.

Hunt, Garrett Season Review
Hunt and Garrett both had great 2024 campaigns for their respective teams.
Hunt was very effective when filling in for injured starting running back Isiah Pacheco this season and has carved out a role in the offense even with Pacheco healthy again. Hunt amassed 904 total yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season and is expected to play a large role in the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Garrett had his seventh consecutive season with over ten sacks as he recorded 14 this past year, a truly remarkable statistic. Furthermore, he had three forced fumbles to add to his phenomenal campaign.
While there is no clear indication that Garrett will be traded, it is evident that with his skillset and abilities, Garrett would walk into almost any NFL locker room and instantly be the best player on the defensive unit.
