The Dallas Cowboys will be gearing up for a thrilling matchup against the San Francisco 49ers for a prime-time game in Week 8. The former currently holds a 3-3 record, and head coach Mike McCarthy has started to face the heat for it.
While you expect fans to act out in the middle of the season if things are not going their way, the Cowboys GM Jerry Jones made a shocking statement about the team’s playcalling practices during a radio appearance.
Dallas Cowboys Respond to Jerry Jones’ Radio Claims
During the interview, Jones said, “We’re designing bad plays or concepts. The facts are there’s also some of the execution, there are some of the talents. I like our young talent, but young talent has more mistakes associated with it than when dealing with a veteran player.”
While many fans expected Jones to come out with an apology for his rant during the interview, he didn’t feel like he did anything wrong and said that the radio station was lucky to have him.
The NFL world did not like Jones’ statements to begin with; one Cowboys fan expressed their frustration on X and said, “Yeah, it’s a wrap for me after this season .. i’m done feeding the ego machine…”
Another fan added, “Agreed. I honestly wish someone in his circle would tell him to go live out his last years on a beach somewhere. Forget about football. The dude is old, bitter …”
“You mean to tell me that a billionaire NFL owner’s ego wouldn’t allow him to admit his error and apologize?” another fan responded.
Another fan added, “Ik they can’t risk their job but someone who can’t get fired needs [to confront] him live on air.”
“Bro needs to go! Cowboy fans stop going to games please.” Another fan demanded.
Another fan said, “Jerry is really embracing the villain role. He’s going up in flames towards the end of his life at the detriment of his franchise.”
Mike McCarthy Responds to Troy Aikman’s Harsh Opinions
The former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman did not hold back from his criticism of the Dallas team. He said that the routes are terrible and said the team has to get a lot better.
McCarthy addressed the former player’s comments during a press conference on Monday.
“Troy’s comments don’t really carry any weight with me, I’m the one watching the tape, I’m the one in the meetings, at practices, and I see the full picture. It’s not just one position, there’s room for improvement across the board. But the way Troy put it? I don’t agree with that at all.”
Fans would be hoping for the Cowboys to make a comeback as coach McCarthy’s hot-seat conversation catches fire.
