Jerry Jones doubled down on Cooper Rush over Trey Lance, sparking fan outrage as the Cowboys seem destined to miss out on the postseason.

The Dallas Cowboys are at it again, stirring up drama like it’s their off-season hobby. From the bleachers to X (formerly Twitter), the fanbase is losing it, calling the team everything from “clueless” to downright “idiotic.”

Classic Cowboys chaos, right? But, hey, it’s never boring in the Joneses world. So, is this another genius move nobody gets yet, or just another confounding moment in Big D?

Fans Rip Jerry Jones for Sticking With Cooper Rush Over Trey Lance

Fans are fuming after owner Jones doubled down on Cooper Rush as the QB2 over Lance, claiming on “105.3 The Fan” that Rush gives the Cowboys the best shot at winning.

“Wins are important for us,” Jones said. “Very important for us. This is a young team.”

But fans aren’t buying it, and the reactions were swift and brutal.

One fan labeled the Cowboys as an “idiotic team on all levels,” perfectly summing up the mood among the Cowboys’ faithful.

Another piled on, calling Jones “delusional.”

A third criticized the decision as another missed opportunity for the Cowboys to develop Lance or salvage value from the 2025 fourth-round pick spent to acquire him.

“Either Lance is so awful that putting him on the field would embarrass Jerry for giving a 4th for him OR Jerry wants to sign him as a 2025 backup and is afraid to showcase him for other teams. I believe its the former!”

Fans were quick to point out the lack of upside in sticking with Rush.

“The team is 5-8, and the season is over,” one user vented. “Let Lance play the last 4 games and see what he can do. Maybe he plays well enough to trade for another 6th or 7th round draft pick. Team has nothing to lose by playing him at this point.”

However, Lance is set to be a free agent at the end of the season, meaning Dallas could not trade Lance unless it extends his contract.

Whatever the reasoning, fans are left frustrated and skeptical of Jones’ long-term vision. For a team desperate to reclaim its former glory, these repeated missteps keep adding gasoline to the fire.

It was another gut punch for Overshown as a freak knee injury in the fourth quarter brought his year to a screeching halt.

His right knee twisted awkwardly during a tackle attempt, leaving him in visible pain. For Overshown, who missed all of his rookie season with a torn ACL in his left knee, it’s déjà vu in the worst way.

Head coach Mike McCarthy didn’t sugarcoat it. Postgame, he called the injury “serious” and hinted at grim early reports. Team owner Jones chimed in, saying, “He’s having an outstanding year, and we’ll see what it brings. It’s concerning at this time, very concerning.”

Overshown wasted no time rallying his faith and fans, sharing on social media: “Wouldn’t want this for anyone else! One of God’s Toughest Soldiers. Keep me in your prayers.”

However, the toughest blow landed in the Cowboys’ locker room, especially for Micah Parsons. Parsons, visibly shaken, struggled through his words. “He don’t deserve that either,” he said, choking back tears. “He’s so talented. The year he was having. I really just don’t think that’s fair.”

It’s a crushing loss for the Cowboys and another uphill battle for Overshown. If resilience had a face, it’d be his. The former Texas linebacker reportedly tore his ACL, PCL, and MCL, requiring season-ending surgery, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
